1) Have you ever visted a psychic? Did you believe what they told you?
No, I haven't. I once went into the tent of a fortune teller at a local fair and she told me I would have 5 children.
2) How old do you believe a child should be before he or she can date? Why?
When he/she has license and have completed the 6th month driving alone law imposed in Washington. Until then, heading out in groups is dandy.
3) What was one completely illogical, abritrary rule your parents imposed on you when you were a kid?
My mom didn't believe in girls shaving until sixteen. I broke the rule three years early. I was hairy and smelly.
4) When was the last time you lost your temper?
The other night when I couldn't find one of our THREE pair of tweezers. I stomped around and made accusations. I had a chin hair that needed immediate removal.
5) What is one thing you would like to change about yourself that you are fairly certain you will never change?
I would like to be more organized but I don't see it happening except for specific projects. My brain is rarely in the here and now--it's off dreaming somewhere.
6) If you were asked to sing at your friend's wedding for $300, would you be willing to do so? She really wants you to.
No.
7) Have you ever used the "it's not you, it's me" break-up line?
Yes. In high school. I actually meant it at the time. At seventeen, I didn't know it was such a cliche.
8) Would you enjoy spending a month of solitude in a beautiful natural setting? Food and shelter would be provided but you would not see another person.
Yes.
9) What was the most recent movie that made you cry?
Tree of Life
10) If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else currently living for a month, would you do so? Whom would you pick?
Hmmm...Ann Patchett. I would like to inhabit her brain and writing routine for a month.
1. Once on a lark for a girls night out. Never met the woman and she knew things no one I went with knew, so...it was a bit odd and surprising.
2. 16, just because they need to be more mature to handle the one on one thing. If they are comfortable in a big group, even better!
3.My father said I couldn't have my ears pierced until I was 16. Somewhere along the way my Mom decided this was stupid and we BOTH got our ears pierced at the same time. Still have the cute little post type earrings we both got. No telling what heat she took for me, but I appreciated her intervention!
4. Probably with Shaggy Haired Boy due to some irrational surge of teenageriness! Although I did tell the BIG BOSS today that their expectations are unrealistic and counterproductive to a smooth and seemless unit. I stated my reasons in a clear and concise manner with examples of why it isn't working and it did not go over well with BB. Oh well, everyone else was relieved someone finally stuck their neck out and told the truth. Maybe my head will roll, maybe they will appreciate that I shoot straight, we shall see.
5. I bite my fingernails when I am stressed. Try not to, but it happens anyway. I know, GROSS!
6. SURE! I have sung for free before, $300 sounds good!
7. No, but I did say I thought we would be better if we were just friends a few times.
8. yes...but would like it better with a companion
9. The Help, I think.
10. Can't say Clooney's gf because they change like the tide, don't want to have to drag those lips around w/me so not Pitt's current squeeze...hmmm how about 20 year old ME? There are a few things I would encourage THAT girl to do!
1) Have you ever visted a psychic? Did you believe what they told you?
Never visited. I don't believe in it.
2) How old do you believe a child should be before he or she can date? Why?
Well, define "date". I know a lot of younger teens go on "group dates", where a certain number of girls and a certain number of boys get together in public to do something like go to a movie then go eat prodigious amounts of junk food. It's really more of a mixer than what I'd consider a date, so call it 13 and up.
One on one dating? Depends very much on the individuals involved. 14 at the very youngest, probably 16ish. It depends a lot on maturity, the prospective date, the circumstances, etc. I hate using a blanket number because situations vary so much, and unlike the law, this can be tailored to the individual.
3) What was one completely illogical, abritrary rule your parents imposed on you when you were a kid?
Shoes need to be stored in the bedroom. I never understood this - we all ran around barefoot in the house, and only put on shoes to go outside. So we had to go all the way upstairs to get shoes when we went out, then go all the way upstairs *again* to put them away after we came back. It made far more sense to me to store them near the door, but that always drove my mother crazy.
I have a pile of shoes near the door in my house.
4) When was the last time you lost your temper?
I'm not sure. My husband and I are in the middle of a do it yourself facelift of the downstairs bathroom, so tempers have been in evidence a lot lately. However we rarely really lose them, more like just misplace them for a short while.
5) What is one thing you would like to change about yourself that you are fairly certain you will never change?
My social insecurity. It was ingrained at a very young age, and I don't think I'm ever going to really be able to let it go completely. I've gotten a lot better at working around it as I've gotten older.
6) If you were asked to sing at your friend's wedding for $300, would you be willing to do so? She really wants you to.
Depends what she wants me to sing. If it's something I like and think I could do a reasonable job with, I would.
7) Have you ever used the "it's not you, it's me" break-up line?
No.
8) Would you enjoy spending a month of solitude in a beautiful natural setting? Food and shelter would be provided but you would not see another person.
Oh, yes. Will I have internet? Books? A soft cozy bed with lots of pillows and a down comforter and cool nights and warm days and maybe a lake to swim in? And maybe a cat?
9) What was the most recent movie that made you cry?
It was so long ago I can't remember. I don't watch many movies, and when I do, they're generally not ones that make me cry. If I want to be depressed, I'll read the newspaper.
10) If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else currently living for a month, would you do so? Whom would you pick?
Probably, and it would be either some blonde supermodel or an Olympic athlete. Not because I have any burning desire to be a supermodel or Olympic athlete, but because they have bodies that are so completely unlike mine in shape and function. I have lived in my body for my entire life, and I would really just like to know what something radically different feels like. How does it move? How does it fold? Where is its power?
Note that this is only contingent on the fact that I get to go back to my own body at the end of the month. My body is not perfect, but it is MINE.
1) Have you ever visited a psychic? Did you believe what they told you? No, wouldn't know where to find one.
2) How old do you believe a child should be before he or she can date? Why? I have no idea, my three boys are still young so I guess we'll see when we get there. I don't think kids ask their parents in Germany. Since they don't drive until 18, they don't care about your car and do it without you knowing.
3) What was one completely illogical, abritrary rule your parents imposed on you when you were a kid? No specific rule, but they consistently switched off the tv if there was any kissing or lovemaking going on. It's no wonder that my movie culture is inexistent.
4) When was the last time you lost your temper? Last week maybe. Another case of husband and kids treating me like a maid.
5) What is one thing you would like to change about yourself that you are fairly certain you will never change? Unable to smalltalk with people at a social gathering.
6) If you were asked to sing at your friend's wedding for $300, would you be willing to do so? She really wants you to. I would do it if not alone.
7) Have you ever used the "it's not you, it's me" break-up line? I don't remember.
8) Would you enjoy spending a month of solitude in a beautiful natural setting? Food and shelter would be provided but you would not see another person. YES!
9) What was the most recent movie that made you cry? recent movie.."The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" anything will make me cry, I'm extremely sensitive lately.
10) If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else currently living for a month, would you do so? Whom would you pick?
Bill Gates. I want to see how it feels to be rich and clever at the same time.
1) Have you ever visted a psychic? Did you believe what they told you?
Not that I recall. I've had folks read my palm before - I recall every one of them saying I'd have 3 children.
2) How old do you believe a child should be before he or she can date? Why?
I think that we all develop at different rates & so there's no real hard line answer to this.
3) What was one completely illogical, abritrary rule your parents imposed on you when you were a kid?
My father forbid us to sing at the dinner table. And my mother made us finish our dinner completely - no matter what (I fell asleep in mashed potatoes more than once). Still makes no sense to me.
4) When was the last time you lost your temper?
I've forgotten, but I'm certain it was recent. We're fairly emotive in our household.
5) What is one thing you would like to change about yourself that you are fairly certain you will never change?
The things that come to mind are: I'd like to want to cook, I'd like to be more flexible (physically), and I'd like to be less fearful about change.
6) If you were asked to sing at your friend's wedding for $300, would you be willing to do so? She really wants you to.
False. None of my friends would ever ask me to sing - especially at a wedding and/or for money.
7) Have you ever used the "it's not you, it's me" break-up line?
Back before married life, I had no idea of this cliche. And back then, even though it was seriously always me, I would never admit it.
8) Would you enjoy spending a month of solitude in a beautiful natural setting? Food and shelter would be provided but you would not see another person.
A few years back my answer was yes. Today it's no. I'd want to have some select people along.
9) What was the most recent movie that made you cry?
I cry at touching YouTube & TED videos.
10) If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else currently living for a month, would you do so? Whom would you pick?
Definitely! The options are limitless! An acrobat, a swimmer, a paraplegic, a man, someone really tall, etc. I'd love to literally stand in as many different shoes as I could.
1) Have you ever visited a psychic? Did you believe what they told you? Yes and yes - only because they validated things that nobody else could know. If they told me something implausible about my future, I would be suspect.
2) How old do you believe a child should be before he or she can date? Why? 35? For my child it's a situational question. It depends on which sort of choice maker he wants to go out with. So far, we haven't had to have the conversation more than a couple of times.
3) What was one completely illogical, abitrary rule your parents imposed on you when you were a kid? All of them? Prolly waiting til 12 til getting my ears pierced. Because then I would be 'responsible enough to keep track of those little earrings'. Nevermind that I already had an extensive selection of Barbie shoes.
4) When was the last time you lost your temper? Yesterday. Teenagery. Sigh.
5) What is one thing you would like to change about yourself that you are fairly certain you will never change? Tolerance for crowds.
6) If you were asked to sing at your friend's wedding for $300, would you be willing to do so? She really wants you to. I would sing for free if it were a really great friend who really wanted it.
7) Have you ever used the "it's not you, it's me" break-up line? I think so, yes.
8) Would you enjoy spending a month of solitude in a beautiful natural setting? Food and shelter would be provided but you would not see another person. Only if I could bring my dog, and CAN I START TOMORROW?????
9) What was the most recent movie that made you cry? The Descendants
10) If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else currently living for a month, would you do so? Whom would you pick? I like Brambles choice of a younger me. I pick 25. That was the year I wore a size 6
and got married.1) Have you ever visted a psychic? Did you believe what they told you?
Nope, i reckon I make my own luck, with my firm conviction that good stuff is coming and that bad stuff only happens occasionally
2) How old do you believe a child should be before he or she can date? Why?
I think it really depends on the individual. For instance, I'm not always convinced i should date now and i'm pretty long in the tooth.
3) What was one completely illogical, abritrary rule your parents imposed on you when you were a kid?
i had to eat my peas. Yuk
4) When was the last time you lost your temper?
When Iberia arbitrarily cancelled my return flight to Mexico City, where I live and offered me a replacement that leaves from Madrid, even tthough I'm currently in the UK, which is patently a totally different country to Spain. Still, it's all sorted now.
5) What is one thing you would like to change about yourself that you are fairly certain you will never change?
the size of my bottom. I've worked hard at healthy eating and being more active, but it will always be there, trailin me around as I don't have the inclination to devote my massive will power to its reduction and nothing but - frankly I'm happy enough but it has been my ongoing bug bear.
6) If you were asked to sing at your friend's wedding for $300, would you be willing to do so? She really wants you to.
I'd do it for free. But then I love to sing. And for a big crowd? Get in!!!
7) Have you ever used the "it's not you, it's me" break-up line?
Yes and it was totally true
8) Would you enjoy spending a month of solitude in a beautiful natural setting? Food and shelter would be provided but you would not see another person.
Yes please. Can I go to New Zealand for it?
9) What was the most recent movie that made you cry?
I bawled my eyes out to We Bought A Zoo on the plane last night. It was just too much for me - dead parent, sick tiger, confused children. And not toooooo schmalzy. Although baffled as it seems to set in California and I'm sure the book was in UK
10) If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else currently living for a month, would you do so? Whom would you pick?
Not for a whole month. I couldn't trust them with my brillliant Mexican students ongoing linguistic development. I'd be up for a weekend, maybe.
But there would have to be rigorous conditions.
Peace out people.
1) Have you ever visted a psychic? Did you believe what they told you?
Oh yes, and they were absolutely correct--about the meth dealer that had just moved onto my street causing trouble in my life, which sure did come true....3 years later we moved which was awesome for us and in 2009 we hear that evil man died...."the wages of sin" and all that.....YES. She was spookily correct about it all, but my life in the end is much much better....
2) How old do you believe a child should be before he or she can date? Why?
I have no idea. My beagle had puppies before we got her, and she was about 18 months old and a mother. I dated in 6th grade and loved it. We were 12 and that girl was FAST!!!! Then when I was 16 there was Becky next door, a year older...no, ten years older really, who introduced me to cheapo jug wine and my mother warned me "she might try to involve you in a sexual relationship!" and I was thinking "what is wrong with that?".
I am so glad I don't have kids :)
3) What was one completely illogical, abritrary rule your parents imposed on you when you were a kid?
No earring or they would cut off my college tuition! No other things too....
4) When was the last time you lost your temper?
I don't want to talk about it, gawdammit, and I mean that!
5) What is one thing you would like to change about yourself that you are fairly certain you will never change?
Well, impatience. I jump out of my skin with anxiety if I have to wait....
6) If you were asked to sing at your friend's wedding for $300, would you be willing to do so? She really wants you to.
You got it. I know many awesome B52 songs "I just wanna make love to you under the strobelight!!!!" and Bowie's "rebel rebel, you've torn your dress....hot tramp, I love you sooo....." and Prince "I don't care where we go, I don't care what we do! Just take me with you!"
Give me a champaigne and try to STOP me from singing....
7) Have you ever used the "it's not you, it's me" break-up line?
No.
8) Would you enjoy spending a month of solitude in a beautiful natural setting? Food and shelter would be provided but you would not see another person.
No probs. I am married but have worked alone for years....solitude is pretty normal for you...as long as my cat and dog and toys are available and the ticks and mosquitos in this place aren't too bad and it isn't too cold and rainy....
9) What was the most recent movie that made you cry?
Oh wow, at the end of The Descendents, the look on Clooney's face as he looks into his dead wife's box of ashes....man, he had a sad face...
10) If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else currently living for a month, would you do so? Whom would you pick?
No flippin' way. I gotta be ME!
1) Have you ever visted a psychic? Did you believe what they told you? Yes, I have visited a psychic a couple of times. At the time of the readings, she was about 75% accurate, and she told me some stuff I thought was *reaching*. Asime wore on, she was dead-on accurate.
2) How old do you believe a child should be before he or she can date? Why? What do you mean by date? I've let my boys meet their female interests at the movies at ages 13-14. But, dating *dating* requires a job...they didn't really date until they were employes...16-17.
3) What was one completely illogical, abritrary rule your parents imposed on you when you were a kid? So hard to choose...I had terrible selfish illogical parents! I guess it would be the "no anger" rule. In their eyes, we had no right to ba angry about anything. We were living charmed lives.
4) When was the last time you lost your temper? It's been several weeks.
5) What is one thing you would like to change about yourself that you are fairly certain you will never change? I hold a grudge. It's not something I am proud of, but when I am hurt I nurse it into real pain.
6) If you were asked to sing at your friend's wedding for $300, would you be willing to do so? She really wants you to. No.
7) Have you ever used the "it's not you, it's me" break-up line? Nope. It's ALWAYS been them! Hahaha!
8) Would you enjoy spending a month of solitude in a beautiful natural setting? Food and shelter would be provided but you would not see another person. YES, YES, YES! I would leave this morning if you could tell me where to go!
9) What was the most recent movie that made you cry? Ummm....I can't recall.
10) If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else currently living for a month, would you do so? Whom would you pick? No. I am not always happy in this body, but I know it, and it's mine.
1) Have you ever visted a psychic? Did you believe what they told you? I'm intuitive and I have trouble believing myself sometimes...so I avoid the psychics on the off chance I'd hear my life is going to be even more crazy than it already has been.
2) How old do you believe a child should be before he or she can date? Why? I raised 5 (2 mine and 3 someone elses) Group dates around 14 and real dating around 16. Very dependent on the maturity level and their ability to keep grades/chores/activities balanced.
3) What was one completely illogical, abritrary rule your parents imposed on you when you were a kid? Too many to count. The most annoying was that I couldn't grow my hair past the bottom of my chin and my next sister couldn't cut hers.
4) When was the last time you lost your temper? Last week. It was needed...like a violent rain clearing heavy, damp oppressive heat away.
5) What is one thing you would like to change about yourself that you are fairly certain you will never change? My varicose vein.
6) If you were asked to sing at your friend's wedding for $300, would you be willing to do so? She really wants you to. Hoo-boy. Yep, I probably would but I'd figure out something fun to do with the money that includes her, me and some drinks with umbrellas.
7) Have you ever used the "it's not you, it's me" break-up line? Cliche...I mean, touche. Yep. Once.
8) Would you enjoy spending a month of solitude in a beautiful natural setting? Food and shelter would be provided but you would not see another person. Bag is packed!
9) What was the most recent movie that made you cry? Watched a re-run of "Secondhand Lions" which always runs me through the emotional gauntlet.
10) If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else currently living for a month, would you do so? Whom would you pick? Yes. If I could combine my month out of body in concurrence with the month in solitude, I would choose to be a guy for a month. But I think that experiment would be best tried in isolation, until I got the hang of it. Otherwise, I'd like to be Kate Middleton for one month. Young, gorgeous, rich, famous, but not likely to end up naked on the cover of Playboy.
1) Have you ever visted a psychic? Did you believe what they told you?
Yes, both a psychic and a tarot card reader. I believed what the psychic told me but the tarot card reader was way off the mark.
2) How old do you believe a child should be before he or she can date? Why?
I don't have kids but I'm going to pick 16, just because.
3) What was one completely illogical, abritrary rule your parents imposed on you when you were a kid?
Mom did not want me to shave my legs, at all, ever. She believed it to be something only loose women would do. "Because we are so fair and have blonde hair, you really can't even see the hair on your legs," she told me. "Plus, once you start you can never stop shaving, AND the hair will grow in thicker and darker, so it's better if you never start." She bought me an electric razor so I could shave my armpits. THAT was apparently okay as it was a hygiene issue. So I took that bad boy into the basement and shaved my armpits AND my legs. Take that, mom.
4) When was the last time you lost your temper?
About a week ago, when I asked my husband for about the third time to change the burned-out lightbulb in the ceiling fan over our bed and he remained on the couch, watching TV, and just said "uh-huh." Mind you, losing my temper probably doesn't look or sound like you might think. We argue fairly quietly.
5) What is one thing you would like to change about yourself that you are fairly certain you will never change?
I want so very badly to be a glass-half-full kind of person but I can't seem to get there.
6) If you were asked to sing at your friend's wedding for $300, would you be willing to do so? She really wants you to.
She needs to keep her $300. And possibly visit with a therapist, as no rational, lucid person would ever ask me to sing at their wedding. At least, no one who wanted their guests to enjoy the event.
7) Have you ever used the "it's not you, it's me" break-up line?
No, but it's been used on me more times than I care to remember.
8) Would you enjoy spending a month of solitude in a beautiful natural setting? Food and shelter would be provided but you would not see another person.
Where do I sign up?
9) What was the most recent movie that made you cry?
I cry very easily, but haven't seen a movie recently. On my way home from the grocery store yesterday, I was listening to a sappy 1970s song in the car that reminded me of a former relationship, and that song made me cry: "You left me, just when I needed you most..." Does that count?
10) If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else currently living for a month, would you do so? Whom would you pick?
This is probably a little outside of what you had in mind, but I'd love to wake up tomorrow in my 23-year-old self. She was more than a little bit stupid and on the brink of making some seriously screwed up decisions in her life. But her body was still healthy and could remain that way if given some clear direction along with a big heaping dose of love. Then I could return a month later to my 55-year-old self a whole lot healthier and happier.
1) Have you ever visted a psychic?
I would never waste my money that way. Don't believe in psychics, fortune tellers, horoscopes or reading the tea leaves.
If I want to know what's going to happen in the future...I plan it.
2) How old do you believe a child should be before he or she can date? Why?
Hmmm....both my daughters went out in mixed groups to the movies etc until they were 16.
Though they had very different personalities 16 years old was the first time the issue came up.
That seemed right, and natural, at the time.
3) What was one completely illogical, abritrary rule your parents imposed on you when you were a kid?
No pierced ears till I was 13.
My grandmother told my mother that only trashy girls got their ears pierced...so my mother never did her whole life.
I waited, and waited and was so excited when I finally turned 13. Money was tight and that was my present.
We went down to get it done, and my mother turned to the lady and said, " You may as well do my other daughter too."
What?
My sister was 8!!!!....and it wasn't her birthday!!!
I may be 50 but the memory still outrages me.
4) When was the last time you lost your temper?
Four weeks ago I was at a Girl Guide Camp and there was a safety issue.
Girls about 50 feet away were doing something that was going to end in tears, or a broken head.
I screamed so loud that they all froze.
I think the tone of voice let them know that I mean't business.
5) What is one thing you would like to change about yourself that you are fairly certain you will never change?
Procrastination.
I'm either super efficient or shockingly behind with deadlines.
Don't they say...know thyself? Well, I do, but I'm not sure I'll ever be able to change.
6) If you were asked to sing at your friend's wedding for $300, would you be willing to do so? She really wants you to.
No.
Is she mad?...or on medication?
7) Have you ever used the "it's not you, it's me" break-up line?
No. Mostly I just said that I didn't feel the same way anymore, and I thought we should break up.
Of course I haven't broken up with anyone since 1980 so it's all a bit hazy.
8) Would you enjoy spending a month of solitude in a beautiful natural setting? Food and shelter would be provided but you would not see another person.
Yes.
Definately.
No problem...Can I go there now?
9) What was the most recent movie that made you cry?
The Hunger Games. Not the greatest movie...and not as much detail as the book, but there were touching moments.
10) If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else currently living for a month, would you do so? Whom would you pick?
No, a fairly horrifying thought.
I don't think anyones life is perfect, and I can't think of anyone I would switch places with.
1) Have you ever visted a psychic? Did you believe what they told you?
I've been to visit tarot readers and they were generally on point. I've also visited a person who can communicate with spirits and I definitely believed her.
2) How old do you believe a child should be before he or she can date? Why?
Oh god, can I say NEVER? No? Ok how about 15? I guess it would just depend on how mature she is at that age.
3) What was one completely illogical, abritrary rule your parents imposed on you when you were a kid?
My mother said I talked my way out of all the rules, so in a crazy fit to make me stick to one rule she gave me a midnight curfew when I was 18 and out of high school. Then she set her alarm clock for midnight and if it went off (meaning, if i didn't turn it off), I was in deep shit. I talked my way out of that one too by moving in with my boyfriend (now husband).
4) When was the last time you lost your temper?
I lose it probably once a day.
5) What is one thing you would like to change about yourself that you are fairly certain you will never change?
My temper.
6) If you were asked to sing at your friend's wedding for $300, would you be willing to do so? She really wants you to.
Sure!
7) Have you ever used the "it's not you, it's me" break-up line?
I've never broken up with someone romantically, but I have used that to break up with a friend.
8) Would you enjoy spending a month of solitude in a beautiful natural setting? Food and shelter would be provided but you would not see another person.
As long as there are no bees, wasps or snakes to be seen, then yes.
9) What was the most recent movie that made you cry?
The Lorax.
10) If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else currently living for a month, would you do so? Whom would you pick?
I would pick a national geographic photographer who is going on a really cool shoot...like to Russia or Hawaii.
1) Have you ever visted a psychic? Did you believe what they told you?
No, never. The potential for freaking myself out is too high.
2) How old do you believe a child should be before he or she can date? Why?
one on one? 15 or 16, I suppose.
3) What was one completely illogical, abritrary rule your parents imposed on you when you were a kid? I actually can't think of one. My parents are dead against illogical and arbitrary rules.
4) When was the last time you lost your temper? A few weeks ago I lost it because I'd offered to help with painting the bedroom, when I really didn't want to. I painted part and moved on to the next bit, only to turn around and find K-man silently painting over the part I'd just finished. Let's just say I was a little bit fragile already, and I lost the plot. I threw some really choice words at him, marched off, and didn't speak to him for hours. He tried twice to apologise but I was not having it. I've been feeling badly enough about my own competence for a while (connected to my career being utterly stagnant) and the last thing I needed was someone indicating I couldn't even paint a wall properly.
5) What is one thing you would like to change about yourself that you are fairly certain you will never change? I have literally hundreds of moles. I really don't like them, but removing them isn't an option because there are so many.
6) If you were asked to sing at your friend's wedding for $300, would you be willing to do so? She really wants you to.
If she really wanted me to, I'd do it for free.
7) Have you ever used the "it's not you, it's me" break-up line? No.
8) Would you enjoy spending a month of solitude in a beautiful natural setting? Food and shelter would be provided but you would not see another person.
Hell. Yes.
9) What was the most recent movie that made you cry?
The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Pathetic, I know.
10) If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else currently living for a month, would you do so? Whom would you pick?
Shelly Gotleib, champion snowboarder. I recently spent three days
snowboardingfalling over, and I'm apparently incapable of mastering even the basic stuff. I can just about get down a gentle slope without killing myself, and I want to live in the body of a person with all the right muscles to enable me to get the technique down. Oh, that snowboarding looks easy but it is such hard work. I thought I was reasonably fit and strong, but snowboarding kicked my arse all the way to the middle of next year.1) Have you ever visted a psychic? Did you believe what they told you?
No, but I do believe in them. My aunt’s described my uncle in perfect detail to her about 6 months before they ever met….and he’s 6’-9” tall!
2) How old do you believe a child should be before he or she can date? Why?
I think 14 is OK, but really no true date happens until someone other than parents can drive (i.e. 16)
3) What was one completely illogical, abritrary rule your parents imposed on you when you were a kid?
Looking back, nothing was illogical or arbitrary, though at the time I’m sure I could have come up with many answers to this question.
4) When was the last time you lost your temper?
I can’t really remember. I get mad, but I don’t really lose it. I’m too logical for hot blood.
5) What is one thing you would like to change about yourself that you are fairly certain you will never change?
I would like to focus on my crafts more and less on the tv after the kid’s in bed, but really tv just turns to sleep asap.
6) If you were asked to sing at your friend's wedding for $300, would you be willing to do so? She reallywants you to.
Yes, I love to sing. I wouldn’t need paid.
7) Have you ever used the "it's not you, it's me" break-up line?
I think I have, but it was so long ago….I was 14!
8) Would you enjoy spending a month of solitude in a beautiful natural setting? Food and shelter would be provided but you would not see another person.
I’d need activities, but I think I could totally handle that. I’m social, but not socially-dependent.
9) What was the most recent movie that made you cry?
I actually normally watch sad movies, but the “Shameless” Finale on Showtime made me cry this past week.
10) If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else currently living for a month, would you do so? Whom would you pick?
I wouldn’t mind taking someone else’s hot body, but I really wouldn’t want to take anyone else’s life. I think I’d pick Sophia Vergara. I’ve always wondered what it’d be like to have the huge boobs.
1) Have you ever visted a psychic? Did you believe what they told you? No, but only because I think most people who claim to be psychic are scam artists. There are people out there though, who I think have natural psychic abilities that they don't feel the need to advertise. I have talked with a couple of them before and it's been interesting.
2) How old do you believe a child should be before he or she can date? Why?- It depends on the situation, but for solo dates, I'm thinking 15-16 or so.
3) What was one completely illogical, abritrary rule your parents imposed on you when you were a kid?- My mom wouldn't let me date until I was 17. I understand now that it was to protect me, but it kind of sucked not having much of a social life in high school.
4) When was the last time you lost your temper?- The other night when my husband was looking for a pair of scissors down in the man-cave. He couldn't find them, which was somehow everyone else's fault. I yelled that it wasn't my responsibility to keep track of his crap and then I started humming the theme from 'Sanford and Son'. Not my finest moment, I'm sure, but I'm still going to download that song as my ringtone for when he calls my cell.
5) What is one thing you would like to change about yourself that you are fairly certain you will never change?- My exceptional procrastination skills. They are awesome!
6) If you were asked to sing at your friend's wedding for $300, would you be willing to do so? She really wants you to.- If she's my friend, she would know that she'd get a better bargain if she paid me $300 to NOT sing.
7) Have you ever used the "it's not you, it's me" break-up line?- I think I tried it with my husband when we were dating.
8) Would you enjoy spending a month of solitude in a beautiful natural setting? Food and shelter would be provided but you would not see another person. If it's a big old Victorian with a screened in porch and an internet connection, I'm in.
9) What was the most recent movie that made you cry?- War Horse made me a bit weepy, I guess.
10) If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else currently living for a month, would you do so? Whom would you pick?- No, I don't think I would. For all my faults, I love my life and wouldn't trade it for anything.
1) Have you ever visted a psychic? Did you believe what they told you? -- Nope
2) How old do you believe a child should be before he or she can date? Why? -- I think it depends upon the teen. My husband says "old enough to be able to drive your date there and back, otherwise it's not a date" I would say probably 16 is fair though. Anything before that and I think it's just totally playing games.
3) What was one completely illogical, abritrary rule your parents imposed on you when you were a kid? -- No movies rated above PG unless my parents saw them first. When I was 17, I got grounded for seeing Waynes World w/out asking and w/out them seeing it. Doh!
4) When was the last time you lost your temper? -- 2 days ago? But it was't too bad
5) What is one thing you would like to change about yourself that you are fairly certain you will never change? -- My butt size. Sigh....
6) If you were asked to sing at your friend's wedding for $300, would you be willing to do so? She really wants you to. -- If she REALLY wanted me to, I guess I would, but then I wouldn't take the cash. I'd be terrified, btw
7) Have you ever used the "it's not you, it's me" break-up line? -- I don't think so.
8) Would you enjoy spending a month of solitude in a beautiful natural setting? Food and shelter would be provided but you would not see another person. -- Hmmm...this always sounds good so my first inclination is a resounding YES! But...the few times i've managed to have 2 or 3 days alone I started to go stir crazy. Still, I think it would be good for my soul, so I'll stick with yes as my answer. it would be hard, but good. kwim?
9) What was the most recent movie that made you cry? -- I can't remember really, but since the last movie I saw was the Lorax and I always tear up at moving moments, I know I did tear at some of the happy parts of that one. I know. Nuts. I cry at every movie.
10) If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else currently living for a month, would you do so? Whom would you pick? -- I would not. Even if I'd rather mine would change, I still want to be me. It would be bizarre to have to learn someone else's body, just to have to come back to mine. I'll stick with my own mess, thanks....
1) Have you ever visited a psychic? Did you believe what they told you?
No. And although I'm a non-believer, I have a fearful aversion to the idea of a psychic - at a recent charity fun event, they had one and my friend said, "oh, do you want to try her?" and I recoiled from the idea.
2) How old do you believe a child should be before he or she can date? Why?
I'm not sure I know what a date is nowadays. My son roamed in a group of friends, like a school of fish, all the time in high school.
3) What was one completely illogical, arbitrary rule your parents imposed on you when you were a kid?
All the rules felt arbitrary at the time, but now looking back, none were, truly.
4) When was the last time you lost your temper?
Sigh. all too recently.
5) What is one thing you would like to change about yourself that you are fairly certain you will never change?
My tummy.
6) If you were asked to sing at your friend's wedding for $300, would you be willing to do so? She really wants you to.
God, she's a fool! But I'd do it.
7) Have you ever used the "it's not you, it's me" break-up line?
Once. It was true.
8) Would you enjoy spending a month of solitude in a beautiful natural setting? Food and shelter would be provided but you would not see another person.
Yes, in a heartbeat. Could I have a dog?
9) What was the most recent movie that made you cry?
We watched part of "To Kill a Mockingbird" the other night, and I cried where I always cry - "Stand up, Miss Jean Louise. Your father's passing."
10) If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else currently living for a month, would you do so? Whom would you pick?
This is a hard one. Would I rather be in the body of someone good, beautiful, and happy so I could experience his/her life? Or would I rather be in the body of someone miserable and horrible, so I could spend a month undoing their damage? Since Dick Cheney had a heart transplant, I've entertained the fantasy that the soul of his unknown donor would possess him and make him spend the rest of his life working for peace, charity, and helping the downtrodden.
Oh, on second thought I do remember an arbitrary rule my father had when I was growing up. "No fishnet stockings." Why, I have no idea.
1) Have you ever visted a psychic? Did you believe what they told you? I have. I didn't want to but the evidence seemed undeniable. I still wonder.
2) How old do you believe a child should be before he or she can date? Why? Dating is different here in the UK I think. From what I can see there is less focus on going out as a couple until after secondary school and more about being in a group but what would I know. I didn't even grow up in this culture.
3) What was one completely illogical, abritrary rule your parents imposed on you when you were a kid? I remember thinking the setting of bedtimes was fairly arbitrary.
4) When was the last time you lost your temper? -- On the phone yesterday when the cold caller asked me if I would like him to keep calling me for four hours so that I too could be made angry. He tried to take it all back when I started mentioning the words 'threatening', 'threat', 'recorded conversation', 'legal standing' and 'unemployment'. I was cold angry though, not explosive angry. How dare he threaten me!
5) What is one thing you would like to change about yourself that you are fairly certain you will never change? My apathy. Who cares anyway??
6) If you were asked to sing at your friend's wedding for $300, would you be willing to do so? She really wants you to. Maybe in a choir but not solo that would be a not good challenge to self. I know my limitations.
7) Have you ever used the "it's not you, it's me" break-up line? Nope.
8) Would you enjoy spending a month of solitude in a beautiful natural setting? Food and shelter would be provided but you would not see another person. -- Hmmm...this always sounds good so my first inclination is a resounding YES! I would like to think I could make a month.
9) What was the most recent movie that made you cry? I don't see many films straight out of the can but cry regularly and often at tv and films and ads and really cute clips on youtube.
10) If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else currently living for a month, would you do so? Whom would you pick? Don't know. Maybe my uber-athletic friend just to see what it is like to be that focussed and active. Then I would return to me to recuperate. **This is the friend who was headed towards the Olympics but sadly has called time on the whole thing bc the rest of the squad weren't committing to the level she required.**
1) Have you ever visted a psychic? Did you believe what they told you? Yes, and yes.
2) How old do you believe a child should be before he or she can date? Why? 15 or 16, by that time they can make good decisions.
3) What was one completely illogical, abritrary rule your parents imposed on you when you were a kid? none
4) When was the last time you lost your temper? eons ago, can't remember
5) What is one thing you would like to change about yourself that you are fairly certain you will never change? I'm happy with myself, so nothing.
6) If you were asked to sing at your friend's wedding for $300, would you be willing to do so? She really wants you to. No, it would be too scary for the wedding guest, and scar the bridal couple for life.
7) Have you ever used the "it's not you, it's me" break-up line? No.
8) Would you enjoy spending a month of solitude in a beautiful natural setting? Food and shelter would be provided but you would not see another person. Absolutely, I'm very good company.
9) What was the most recent movie that made you cry? none
10) If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else currently living for a month, would you do so? Whom would you pick? No.
1) Have you ever visted a psychic? Did you believe what they told you?
Never
2) How old do you believe a child should be before he or she can date? Why?
One on one? Probably 16 although my kids are pretty young so that may change later. I don't think that most teens have the judgement to make responsible decisions before 16 (although frankly I'm not convinced that they can before the age of 25 half the time). I want them to be young enough to start dating while still living in my home but old enough to have some skill in assessing a situation before making a decision.
3) What was one completely illogical, abritrary rule your parents imposed on you when you were a kid?
We weren't allowed to talk on the phone when they left us home alone unless it was an emergency.
4) When was the last time you lost your temper?
When my 4yr old managed to trash three rooms in under 15min. I was making dinner and he unloaded everything from their closet and toy shelf onto the floor in their room, submerged a brand-new roll of toilet paper and smeared toothpaste all over in the bathroom, and tore out some of my plant starts that were under lights in my bedroom leaving the mutilated plants and their dirt all over my floor, bed, and walls. Although my loss of temper started out as a screech of fury and ended with weeping in the bathroom. No children were harmed in the process.
5) What is one thing you would like to change about yourself that you are fairly certain you will never change?
My social awkwardness, which depending on the situation makes me seem like I'm either mute or the most self centered excessively talkative person on the planet. I'm better than I was as a kid but at 32 I still get a knot in the pit of my stomach when I have to be around more than a couple of people at a time, especially if they're people I don't know well.
6) If you were asked to sing at your friend's wedding for $300, would you be willing to do so? She really wants you to.
No
7) Have you ever used the "it's not you, it's me" break-up line?
No
8) Would you enjoy spending a month of solitude in a beautiful natural setting? Food and shelter would be provided but you would not see another person.
Just no people right? I can have hobbies and appropriate clothing for outdoor stuff like hiking and swimming and all that? Pets? Can I bring a pet? If the answer to all of the above is yes than my answer is a resounding YES!
9) What was the most recent movie that made you cry?
I watch very few movies these days so I don't really remember.
10) If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else currently living for a month, would you do so? Whom would you pick?
Not a clue. Probably some middle aged woman happily living all by herself in a little cottage with a lovely garden and her 2 cats and mid-sized lovable mutt. Come to think of it, I do know someone living that way, so S. I would love to live S's life for a month.
1) Have you ever visted a psychic? Did you believe what they told you? I've never visited a psychic...but in my church, everyone can receive a special one-time "blessing" that gives promises and guidance for your life. I received my blessing when I was in college. It has proved to be very accurate.
2) How old do you believe a child should be before he or she can date? Why? I'll let my daughters go on casual, group dates when they turn 16. (Some people call this "hanging out," not dating.) When they graduate they can date whenever/whomever they like. I don't think there's any point in dating before you're an adult. Just causes lots of angst and distracts you from school.
3) What was one completely illogical, abritrary rule your parents imposed on you when you were a kid? I don't think my parents had any...they were pretty easy going. My sisters and were were very good kids, though.
4) When was the last time you lost your temper? Last week when I was driving with my daughter. She has her learner's permit. I was telling her to slow down and she back-talked me.
5) What is one thing you would like to change about yourself that you are fairly certain you will never change? I'd like to get a chin-tuck, but I'm too afraid of plastic surgery, so I'll just live with it.
6) If you were asked to sing at your friend's wedding for $300, would you be willing to do so? She really wants you to. Sure! I'm the children's chorister at church. I sing solos every week in front of a hundred kids and adults. I'm totally over my fear of singing in front of people. Even though I don't sing particularly well.
7) Have you ever used the "it's not you, it's me" break-up line? Never! Most of my boyfriends broke up with me...
8) Would you enjoy spending a month of solitude in a beautiful natural setting? Food and shelter would be provided but you would not see another person. No. I would get too lonely.
9) What was the most recent movie that made you cry? The Hunger Games. I'm pretty much a crier, and that's the last movie I saw.
10) If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else currently living for a month, would you do so? Whom would you pick? I'd inhabit my college daughter's body. I'd do her homework for her and apply for some internships that she's too shy to go after.
1) Have you ever visted a psychic? Did you believe what they told you?
No. Yes.
2) How old do you believe a child should be before he or she can date? Why?
35. Before then, you're too stupid.
3) What was one completely illogical, abritrary rule your parents imposed on you when you were a kid?
No sitcoms.
4) When was the last time you lost your temper?
Monday, when I gave a heavy sigh and a look over the top of the glasses to a student.
5) What is one thing you would like to change about yourself that you are fairly certain you will never change?
I'd be better with money.
6) If you were asked to sing at your friend's wedding for $300, would you be willing to do so? She really wants you to.
Yes. But there are no guarantees.
7) Have you ever used the "it's not you, it's me" break-up line?
Yes. And it turned out to be true (even though I didn't know so at the time.)
8) Would you enjoy spending a month of solitude in a beautiful natural setting? Food and shelter would be provided but you would not see another person.
Without the internet? How about dogs? If I could have dogs, I think I could make it.
9) What was the most recent movie that made you cry?
Hugo
10) If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else currently living for a month, would you do so? Whom would you pick?
Rachel Maddow's girl friend.
1) Have you ever visted a psychic? Did you believe what they told you?
Twice. Both times, she told me things that have come true. But it was about 60% of the whole spiel.
2) How old do you believe a child should be before he or she can date? Why?
I think 13 is too young - ironically, that's the age I had my first date. Casual dating is one thing. 13 or 14 is OK. Serious "going steady" dating - older than that. 16 or 17.
3) What was one completely illogical, abritrary rule your parents imposed on you when you were a kid?
You can't get your ears pierced until you are 14. Same rule goes today, although I lowered the age to 13.
4) When was the last time you lost your temper?
Generally don't lose my temper. In a house filled with testosterone, that happens far too often. I practice being the calm centered one - although I do get angry, I just don't boil over.
5) What is one thing you would like to change about yourself that you are fairly certain you will never change?
My ability to procrastinate. I tend to leave it all until the last minute. Pretty sure that is not going to change.......
6) If you were asked to sing at your friend's wedding for $300, would you be willing to do so? She really wants you to.
While I have a decent voice, I am not sure I would inflict it on others - even for $300. Besides, I have been at too many weddings where the aunt or the cousin or the groom's sister sang. Not pretty.
7) Have you ever used the "it's not you, it's me" break-up line?
Yes. Not my best moment.
8) Would you enjoy spending a month of solitude in a beautiful natural setting? Food and shelter would be provided but you would not see another person.
As long as I had lots of books and music and knitting. Otherwise, I do like people.
9) What was the most recent movie that made you cry?
I can't remember. Like Colorado Deb, I well up more at songs.
10) If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else currently living for a month, would you do so? Whom would you pick?
Tough one. I like the idea of trying on a risk-taker, because I don't. Or someone who is artistic for a living - like a musician. But other than that, I have not met someone whose life is more interesting or happier than mine right now.
1) Have you ever visted a psychic? Did you believe what they told you?
No, silliness.
2) How old do you believe a child should be before he or she can date? Why?
I don't think real dates happen anymore. I am hoping like hell my 17 yr old stepdaughter will make some move before she goes off to college. I hate to think of how completely naive she is, headed to a big college.
3) What was one completely illogical, abritrary rule your parents imposed on you when you were a kid?
All asian food had to be eaten with chopsticks. We are no where close to being of asian descent, lived about as far away from any centers of asian culture or cuisine. Also, people on welfare and commodities don't partake in asian cuisine that often. Served me ok later in life, I can eat with chopsticks and not embarass myself with my Korean and Japanese friends.
4) When was the last time you lost your temper?
Last week, seems to happen a lot with children aged 17, 14, and 10.
5) What is one thing you would like to change about yourself that you are fairly certain you will never change?
I will attempt to remain hopeful, but I often take of too much, or think a project will go faster/smoother than it really could. I am working on adding 25% WTF factor to every project, both money and time.
6) If you were asked to sing at your friend's wedding for $300, would you be willing to do so? She really wants you to.
I would start, and then everyone would cringe and beg for a change in artist.
7) Have you ever used the "it's not you, it's me" break-up line?
Way too often. Everyone knows it really means "It's not me, it's you."
8) Would you enjoy spending a month of solitude in a beautiful natural setting? Food and shelter would be provided but you would not see another person.
Yes, yes, yes. But then I would talk your ear off.
9) What was the most recent movie that made you cry?
I cry at lots of movies, but can't recall.
10) If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else currently living for a month, would you do so? Whom would you pick?
Too fraught with philosophical implications!
1) Have you ever visted a psychic? Did you believe what they told you?
No. I also have an irrational fear of that kind of thing. Not so much that I believe in it, as I am too afraid the bad stuff would become a self-fulfulling prophecy. I don't need that. Interestingly, SIL was told that the guy she was planning to marry was not "the one." She was extremely upset about it for a while, and they did indeed break up not too long after that. She's been married to an awesome guy for over a decade now, but that event sticks out in my mind.
2) How old do you believe a child should be before he or she can date? Why?
It might depend on the kid. I got my first kiss at 13. I was waaaay to young to handle a relationship. I like the idea of kids "going out" in groups until high school.
3) What was one completely illogical, abritrary rule your parents imposed on you when you were a kid?
Oof. Where to start? The one that sticks in my mind is my mother's freakish obsession with the cost of "long distance"
phone calls. She's spend hundreds and hundreifds on high end clothes for us several times a year, but if she had to pay an extra quarter on a call 3 towns away it was the end of the freakin world!
4) When was the last time you lost your temper?
Nearly every morning trying to get my kids on the bus. a) I hate mornings b) the boys' meds haven't kicked in c) my older son cant stop acting like a complete jerk without them. By the afternoon, everything is forgotten.
5) What is one thing you would like to change about yourself that you are fairly certain you will never change?
ADD and accompanying Executive Dysfunction challenges. It took me 40 years to put a name to what was going on in my head, I can't take stimulants because of other health problems, and organizational structures have never stuck with me.
6) If you were asked to sing at your friend's wedding for $300, would you be willing to do so? She really wants you to.
Absolutely. If I could actually sing, it would be an honor.
7) Have you ever used the "it's not you, it's me" break-up line?
No. As I recall, my exact words were "you don't do that shit to me twice."
8) Would you enjoy spending a month of solitude in a beautiful natural setting? Food and shelter would be provided but you would not see another person.
Oh, yes!
9) What was the most recent movie that made you cry?
For some crazy reason the entire family watched the Lion King again recently. Haven't seen it since the boy were 4 & 5 or there abouts. The talking to his dad in the stars scene gets me every time. Sniff.
10) If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else currently living for a month, would you do so? Whom would you pick?
Normally, no. This week is one of those I would love to trade for a normal. healthy body.
haha! I loved that one from karen up there
"If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else currently living for a month, would you do so? Whom would you pick?
Rachel Maddow's girl friend."
Mrs. G, would you consider adding a question next week? This just popped into my head, what with the fortune tellers and all:
"If you had a voodoo doll, who would it be and what would you do to it?".
Sounds either sick and twisted of me, or THERAPEUTIC, actually.....bwahahaha!
1) Have you ever visted a psychic? Did you believe what they told you? - No
2) How old do you believe a child should be before he or she can date? Why? - When they're emotionally ready. It's different for everyone. Since my kids are 6 and 4 I intend to bury my head in the sand on this for a while.

10) If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else currently living for a month, would you do so? Whom would you pick? It would depend on if I would have that person's thoughts...Aidan Turner, I guess. I'd like to know what it is like to be THAT physically beautiful.
Yikes, forgot it was Wednesday!
1) Have you ever visted a psychic? Did you believe what they told you? Yes. And I sat with a medium who told me I'd come through the cancer stuff ok (so far so good), that I'd meet a guy who was into fishing (Dave) and that my mother was there, telling the medium to tell me (Mom's words) to get off my ass and do something with my photography.
2) How old do you believe a child should be before he or she can date? Why? Hmmm, I dunno! I think it would depend on the child...some might be ready at 14, some at 41 ;-)
3) What was one completely illogical, abritrary rule your parents imposed on you when you were a kid? The night the Beatles were on Ed Sullivan, I had to OBEY MY BEDTIME! I sobbed and sobbed, and laid on the floor with my ear pressed to the floor, so I could at least hear it.
4) When was the last time you lost your temper? This past weekend with Dave's 4 yr old grandson. I popped him on the hand. Don't report me!

6) If you were asked to sing at your friend's wedding for $300, would you be willing to do so? She really wants you to. Sure! I can't sing worth a damn, but if she wants to pay me $300 for that, I'll take it :-)
7) Have you ever used the "it's not you, it's me" break-up line? No, I don't think so. I've broken up with a couple guys, but it WAS them and not me ;-)
8) Would you enjoy spending a month of solitude in a beautiful natural setting? Food and shelter would be provided but you would not see another person. At another time of life, I might've said HELLS YEAH. But now? I'd miss Dave too much...and Wolfie!
9) What was the most recent movie that made you cry? Hachi...boy howdy. And that was before my sweet Max passed away!
10) If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else currently living for a month, would you do so? Whom would you pick? Oh, please, Johnny Depp! Imagine what it would be like to be him...AND to have a pen!s??!
1) Have you ever visted a psychic? Did you believe what they told you?
Yes, and no
2) How old do you believe a child should be before he or she can date? Why?
I'm also in the 16 club, just because they need time to mature before they get involved in messy interpersonal relationships.
3) What was one completely illogical, abritrary rule your parents imposed on you when you were a kid?
Nothing really arbitrary and illogical that I can remember until high school when I had to deal with joint custody rather than spending time with friends and working on joint school projectis
4) When was the last time you lost your temper?
Yesterday. On edge lately but before that, really losing it was only about once every month or two
5) What is one thing you would like to change about yourself that you are fairly certain you will never change?
Social confidence. I can fake it but don't feel it inside.
6) If you were asked to sing at your friend's wedding for $300, would you be willing to do so? She really wants you to.
Classical,no problem. Broadway, OK. Aretha Franklin or Britney Spears, I'd do it for free since I wouldn't deserve the money, but I'd do the best job I could. I have a good voice but I know its genre limits.
7) Have you ever used the "it's not you, it's me" break-up line?
Used it on a scary wacked-out roommate once to explain why I was moving out.
8) Would you enjoy spending a month of solitude in a beautiful natural setting? Food and shelter would be provided but you would not see another person.
If I get books, knitting, cooking, and craft supplies sure; could even do without internet.
9) What was the most recent movie that made you cry?
I cry easily at movies. Watching Pip give Magwich food on Sunday night during Great Expectations got me bawling.
10) If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else currently living for a month, would you do so? Whom would you pick?
I would love to be inside Savion Glover to feel what it's like to be that physically talented, and to be a man, and to be black; all completely alien experiences to me.
1) Have you ever visted a psychic? Did you believe what they told you? No, I'm just not interested.
2) How old do you believe a child should be before he or she can date? Why? 15ish? In our case, we didn't have an age rule because our kids weren't too interested until they got older.

4) When was the last time you lost your temper? 15 years ago, when my kids were very young and exhausting.
5) What is one thing you would like to change about yourself that you are fairly certain you will never change? I'm am introvert by nature.
6) If you were asked to sing at your friend's wedding for $300, would you be willing to do so? She really wants you to. No. I can carry a tune but I don't have a pretty voice. Why would my friend insist unless she's trying to humiliate me?
7) Have you ever used the "it's not you, it's me" break-up line? Yes. And it was true.
8) Would you enjoy spending a month of solitude in a beautiful natural setting? Food and shelter would be provided but you would not see another person. Yes. I crave solitude on some days.
9) What was the most recent movie that made you cry? I don't know. A lot of movies make me cry.
10) If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else currently living for a month, would you do so? Whom would you pick? Michelle Obama.
April 3, 2012 | mrs. g.

4) When was the last time you lost your temper? Two days ago at my Mom's asshat doctors. Why can't they just remember that this is a PERSON that they dealing with?!
5) What is one thing you would like to change about yourself that you are fairly certain you will never change? I hope to someday have a bit more self confidence.
6) If you were asked to sing at your friend's wedding for $300, would you be willing to do so? She really wants you to. Nope. I'd never make it through it. But I would FIND a really good singer for $300 for her.
7) Have you ever used the "it's not you, it's me" break-up line? No. I have wanted to, but I didn't think I could do it with a straight face.
8) Would you enjoy spending a month of solitude in a beautiful natural setting? Food and shelter would be provided but you would not see another person. A few days or a week, definitely. I don't know if I could do a month.
9) What was the most recent movie that made you cry? Lately, everything has made me cry.
10) If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else currently living for a month, would you do so? Whom would you pick? Yes. I would trade places with my friend M.
1) Have you ever visited a psychic? Did you believe what they told you?
No, but it might be interesting.
2) How old do you believe a child should be before he or she can date? Why?
16--somewhat more mature and has own transportation.
3) What was one completely illogical, arbitrary rule your parents imposed on you when you were a kid?
I had to finish everything on my plate.
4) When was the last time you lost your temper?
Don't recall. I may have gotten impatient recently, but it's been a while since I've really lost my temper.
5) What is one thing you would like to change about yourself that you are fairly certain you will never change?
I would like to have normal social skills.
6) If you were asked to sing at your friend's wedding for $300, would you be willing to do so? She really wants you to.
Heck yeah! I'd do it for free. Singing in front of a crowd is not nearly as scary as having to talk to one person (or a small group) that you don't know.
7) Have you ever used the "it's not you, it's me" break-up line?
Never. Because I have never broken up with anybody. It's always been the other person who breaks up with me.
8) Would you enjoy spending a month of solitude in a beautiful natural setting? Food and shelter would be provided but you would not see another person.
Would I have to become one with the nature? Or could I just enjoy looking at it from the inside of my sumptuous accommodations?
9) What was the most recent movie that made you cry?
I almost never go to movies.
10) If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else currently living for a month, would you do so? Whom would you pick?
I don't think so.
1) Have you ever visted a psychic? Did you believe what they told you?
Yes, at a school carnival in high school. I can't remember what she said but remember that it seemed spot-on. I was skeptical & figured she tells people things that are very common or that we all want to believe about ourselves. I'd like to go to one now & see what they say.
2) How old do you believe a child should be before he or she can date? Why?
I think it depends on the kid. It also depends on how you define "dating". Saying someone is your boyfriend & holding hands with him on the bus? Jr. high. Out with friends but still on a date together? Early high school. All on your own, just the two of you? 16, 17, 18. Just depends on the kid. I don't know. I had boyfriends in name only starting in kindergarten, through the end of jr. high. Had my first "real" boyfriend who gave me my first kiss, my freshman year of high school. I was allowed to go on dates with him but we mostly hung out with friends. My daughter is similar to me in so many ways EXCEPT that she isn't boy-crazy like I was (am) so I feel confident that she could handle a low-key dating relationship early in high school. I realize that I completely hold a double-standard with my boys because I'm not worried about them at all. My eldest son will fall in love, hard, many times, I can tell. He will move heaven & earth to make his girlfriend happy. And he may not make the smartest decisions regarding sex, safe sex. We're going to have to GRILL him. My youngest son, my concern there is that he will be a total player. He's wild. We're going to have to teach him to be kind and considerate.
3) What was one completely illogical, abritrary rule your parents imposed on you when you were a kid?
I can't think of any. Go my parents!
4) When was the last time you lost your temper?
Someone posted one of my blog posts about Trayvon Martin on her FB page & someone she knows (whom I don't know) commented. I should have just avoided it but I engaged him. I was actually very respectful and calm in my responses to him but in real life I was BOILING.
5) What is one thing you would like to change about yourself that you are fairly certain you will never change?
Gah. I can't give up hope now! I have to believe I'm capable of improving.
6) If you were asked to sing at your friend's wedding for $300, would you be willing to do so? She really wants you to.
Yes but I have to pick the song because I can sing but I'm mediocre. I'd want something that would showcase whatever I have going for me.
7) Have you ever used the "it's not you, it's me" break-up line?
Basically. I used to have a thing where I liked a guy & when he began liking me back, I was turned off. This resulted in becoming friends with guys, starting dating & then quickly breaking up with them. It really wasn't them, it really was me! I will say that in every case like this, I did have a gut feeling that I didn't like them *as much* as I should, but I ignored that because on paper the relationship looked so good. Should have gone with my gut! Sorry, dudes.
8) Would you enjoy spending a month of solitude in a beautiful natural setting? Food and shelter would be provided but you would not see another person.
I think I would go through stages of loving it and hating it. I would love to give it a try.
9) What was the most recent movie that made you cry?
The Hurt Locker. I've seen it before, it made me cry then, too.
10) If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else currently living for a month, would you do so? Whom would you pick?
Yes, as long as the magic also applied to my family/job/etc not missing me during the month. I would pick . . . whomever Jason Mraz is dating? Ha. Actually I think I'd like to be in his body. He has a new album coming out this month & is kicking off a tour. I want to live that life for one month. I suppose if I want a similar experience in a woman I'd pick Brandi Carlile. It would feel so amazing to stand in front of a crowd, and to hear her voice come out of my mouth. She's gorgeous, too, so I'd constantly be looking in the mirror & walking around naked at home. Maybe while I was in her body I would have my people get in touch with Jason Mraz's people and try to make a little something-something happen before the month was up.
1) Have you ever visted a psychic? Did you believe what they told you? No
2) How old do you believe a child should be before he or she can date? Why? 15 or 16
3) What was one completely illogical, abritrary rule your parents imposed on you when you were a kid? can't think of one. I was the oldest and didn't cause much trouble, hence, no big imposing of rules.
4) When was the last time you lost your temper? last weekend with my middle sister---she can push my buttons in the worst way.
5) What is one thing you would like to change about yourself that you are fairly certain you will never change? procrastination
6) If you were asked to sing at your friend's wedding for $300, would you be willing to do so? She really wants you to. nope
7) Have you ever used the "it's not you, it's me" break-up line? nope
8) Would you enjoy spending a month of solitude in a beautiful natural setting? Food and shelter would be provided but you would not see another person. my first thought was yes, I like quiet and my own company. but, after losing my husband and spending 2 years alone, I craved just the touch of another human---just hugs or a even a warm smile. I don't want to go back to that lonely place.
9) What was the most recent movie that made you cry? War Horse, my new hubby too.
10) If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else currently living for a month, would you do so? Whom would you pick? It would be Kate Middleton for me too. only could it be for a month during the Olympics. to go to all the special events and parties and then to wander around the palaces, to see all those things that the public never sees---rooms and jewels that are locked up and antiques and vintage clothing and so on and so on. and the wardrobe choices. just for a month would be grand.
1) Have you ever visted a psychic? Did you believe what they told you?
I have not visited a psychic. I am very curious about the experience and would like to.
2) How old do you believe a child should be before he or she can date? Why?
I was a sophomore in high school when I had my first date and that was probably just right...for me. I think it depends on the child but I guess I would say that sophomore is probably about right for most kids.
3) What was one completely illogical, abritrary rule your parents imposed on you when you were a kid?
10:00 p.m. bedtime - even when I was in high school. I am a night owl, plus, that was really tough when I had rehearsal at school until 9:30.
4) When was the last time you lost your temper?
February 16. An angry text from me triggered the end the most important relationship in my life. Not because of my temper but things might be different if I had reacted differently.
5) What is one thing you would like to change about yourself that you are fairly certain you will never change?
I cry too easily. Happy, sad, angry, frustrated - tears. It's embarrassing sometimes.
6) If you were asked to sing at your friend's wedding for $300, would you be willing to do so? She really wants you to.
It would depend on how close I am with the friend. There is NO WAY I could sing at my BFF's wedding because I would be too choked up (see #5) to sing. But I would love to sing at the wedding of a more casual friend.
7) Have you ever used the "it's not you, it's me" break-up line?
No, that's never really true, is it?
8) Would you enjoy spending a month of solitude in a beautiful natural setting? Food and shelter would be provided but you would not see another person.
It could go two ways: in my current circumstances, I would say no, I would not enjoy it. I have a lot of solitude now and it's not good for me. Too much solitude makes Violet shrink inside. On the other hand, absolute, purposeful solitude might be a wonderful mental exercise and release.
9) What was the most recent movie that made you cry?
I watched Notting Hill a couple weeks ago. I always cry when Julia Roberts says, "I'm just a girl standing in front of a boy asking him to love her."
10) If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else currently living for a month, would you do so? Whom would you pick?
Adele. Her body is curvy and sexy and va-va-voom - just what I would like my body to look like.
1) Have you ever visted a psychic? Did you believe what they told you?
Nope. Wouldn't go, wouldn't believe them.
2) How old do you believe a child should be before he or she can date? Why?
That really depends on the individual. Some teenagers are more mature and trustworthy than others. All of our kids have been allowed to date. 15yodd currently goes on group dates or she and her boyfriend are escorted by a parent or older sibling because they need some way to get where they're going and we live in the country (and boyfriend really lives in the middle of nowhere). Still, I'm starting to rethink the whole concept of dating. I think it needs to be approached differently than it is by most in our culture. It seems to me that most kids, including mine, who are allowed to date, even if they are taught to respect themselves and others, are still just experimenting with each other's hearts and with things they haven't received enough instruction on to really understand. (No, I'm not talking about sex, though it can often lead there.)
3) What was one completely illogical, arbitrary rule your parents imposed on you when you were a kid?
My mom always told me as I was walking out the door, "I trust your judgement." That was probably her trying to take advantage of my usually overactive conscience, and I was pretty responsible. Still, she probably shouldn't have been so trusting. Really, I didn't have a lot of rules.
4) When was the last time you lost your temper?
I'm actually doing pretty well this year. I can't remember the last time I lost it. I've been irritated and angry, but I have kept my cool.
5) What is one thing you would like to change about yourself that you are fairly certain you will never change?
I will probably always cry too easily. I don't cry so much over having my feelings hurt or being upset or the reasons most people cry. I cry over books or movies or seeing some second grader's paper that says he wants to be a Marine when he grows up or atrocities in foreign lands or immigrants seeking a better life for their children or thinking how the traditional method of education and discipline or some adult who doesn't understand might squelch some kid's natural love of learning and his spirit or...oh shit! I need a kleenex. That's fine when I'm at home alone, but it happens regularly when I am in public. I don't want to stop feeling; I would just like to stop showing it so much.
6) If you were asked to sing at your friend's wedding for $300, would you be willing to do so? She really wants you to.
I'd need a few people to sing with me. I don't think I'd be able to accept the money, but maybe if no one I know is willing to do it I could hire someone to sing with me.
7) Have you ever used the "it's not you, it's me" break-up line?
No. I only dated one other guy before my husband. It was definitely him. No official break up was necessary.
8) Would you enjoy spending a month of solitude in a beautiful natural setting? Food and shelter would be provided but you would not see another person.
YES!!!
9) What was the most recent movie that made you cry?
One Day - I am still angry about it. Jerks. I also cried during The Hunger Games a few days before that, but I am not angry about that.
10) If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else currently living for a month, would you do so? Whom would you pick?
No. That's just creepy. Besides, I'm finally comfortable with who I am. Not that I wouldn't give up this muffin top or the rosacea or the way my hair frizzes, but those things don't bother me too much.
I also would not go back to a younger me! There are things that were good about that time, but I don't want to do it all over again!
1) Have you ever visted a psychic? Did you believe what they told you? Yes. And I did believe them, and in my mind, it did come true. When my husband was very ill with a rare infection and had been hospitalized for 3 weeks, a palm reader told me that even though things were going to be very rough, I would be alright in the end. She was right. I had never been to one before and it kind of shook me.
2) How old do you believe a child should be before he or she can date? Why? 16. We had that rule. It just made it easier, and today, two of my kids have separately thanked me for doing that as it took the pressure off them. And to be honest, none of them was ever really interested in anyone till they were around 16 anyway.
3) What was one completely illogical, arbitrary rule your parents imposed on you when you were a kid? My mom would not let us walk near the edge of Rattlesnake Mtn. It felt so unfair as our friends' parents let them while we were there. Today, I side with my mom! Oh, and for some reason, we were never allowed to eat a Sugar Daddy candy bar. Other candy was fine, but not that one.
4) When was the last time you lost your temper? I don't even remember, it's been years.
5) What is one thing you would like to change about yourself that you are fairly certain you will never change? That I care about what people think. Not everyone, but some people.
6) If you were asked to sing at your friend's wedding for $300, would you be willing to do so? She really wants you to. She would not want ME to sing! And I would never take money from a friend to do something like that in the first place.
7) Have you ever used the "it's not you, it's me" break-up line? Too long ago to remember.
8) Would you enjoy spending a month of solitude in a beautiful natural setting? Food and shelter would be provided but you would not see another person. As long as I have some books with me, I would LOVE IT!
9) What was the most recent movie that made you cry? Carolina something
10) If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else currently living for a month, would you do so? Whom would you pick? Just for fun, I'd like to pick someone with breasts that are what mine used to be. Or bigger.
1) Have you ever visted a psychic? Did you believe what they told you? I've used animal communicators several times with my dogs, particularly with end-of-life decisions. I've found them very helpful. This last time was the hardest -- I used the communicator to tell me what I knew but didn't want to admit. My best girl was tired and ready to go.
2) How old do you believe a child should be before he or she can date? Why? Depends on the kid and the potential date (person and situation). In my case, the dog must be at least two years old and have passed her health tests before she can go on overnights with a handsome, talented man whose health test results I've seen and liked.
3) What was one completely illogical, abritrary rule your parents imposed on you when you were a kid? I've blocked them.
4) When was the last time you lost your temper? Doesn't happen very often, so I don't really remember.
5) What is one thing you would like to change about yourself that you are fairly certain you will never change? Marital status, maybe.
6) If you were asked to sing at your friend's wedding for $300, would you be willing to do so? She really wants you to. Oh, no, she doesn't. If it were a serious moment, no. For comic relief, sure.
7) Have you ever used the "it's not you, it's me" break-up line? Oh, probably. I remember a lot of times in college where we discussed whether date of the moment was going to hear or say "Let's be friends." We just referred to them as LBF moments.
8) Would you enjoy spending a month of solitude in a beautiful natural setting? Food and shelter would be provided but you would not see another person. If the dog comes along and I have writing materials.
9) What was the most recent movie that made you cry? Don't remember
10) If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else currently living for a month, would you do so? Whom would you pick? Someone with an athletic body who knows how to use it.
1) Have you ever visted a psychic? Did you believe what they told you? So Scarry----everything she said came true. I'll never go again
2) How old do you believe a child should be before he or she can date? Why? 16 Just because
3) What was one completely illogical, abritrary rule your parents imposed on you when you were a kid? Housework was girls work. I was the only girl in 5 children
4) When was the last time you lost your temper? Does a meltdown count-- 3 days ago.
5) What is one thing you would like to change about yourself that you are fairly certain you will never change? Be a little more warm and fuzzy.
6) If you were asked to sing at your friend's wedding for $300, would you be willing to do so? She really wants you to.
That would be a huge NO.
7) Have you ever used the "it's not you, it's me" break-up line? NO
8) Would you enjoy spending a month of solitude in a beautiful natural setting? Food and shelter would be provided but you would not see another person. Yes as long as I had books.
9) What was the most recent movie that made you cry? The Way and E.T. again for the 50th time
10) If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else currently living for a month, would you do so? Whom would you pick? Bette Midler
1) Have you ever visted a psychic? Did you believe what they told you?
Nope...too creepy
2) How old do you believe a child should be before he or she can date? Why?
When I was younger I would have said 16. Now that I have kids and know what why can do with their phones and gadgets I'd say....47.
3) What was one completely illogical, abritrary rule your parents imposed on you when you were a kid?
No shaving until 13. My hairy Hispanic genes didn't jive with this rule--I was a furry little monkey and probably should have started shaving at the age of five. I did hold out until age 11, then took my chances with my sister's razor and never looked back.
4) When was the last time you lost your temper?
Last night. My oldest son told me (again) that he didn't like what I made for dinner and "why do I always have to make such gross food?" I snapped and gave him an earful. I'm still a little pissed off about it.
5) What is one thing you would like to change about yourself that you are fairly certain you will never change?
I'd love to have an organized house, car, life....but try as I might I doubt that will ever happen--not as long as there are kids around here.
6) If you were asked to sing at your friend's wedding for $300, would you be willing to do so? She really wants you to.
If she were a good friend she'd know not to ask in the first place because I'd ruin the wedding.
7) Have you ever used the "it's not you, it's me" break-up line?
Yes. I college I went on a few dates with a guy shortly after "the one" had broken up with me. It would have been a total rebound relationship and not the best time to get involved with anyone. Plus, he wasn't very bright, and I knew intellectually stimulating conversation would be hard to come by.
8) Would you enjoy spending a month of solitude in a beautiful natural setting? Food and shelter would be provided but you would not see another person.
Are there books? And coffee? Then I'm in!
9) What was the most recent movie that made you cry?
Marley and Me -- and I don't even like dogs! (not a recent movie but I caught it on tv the other day.)
10) If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else currently living for a month, would you do so? Whom would you pick?
Michelle Obama....I'd love to give that husband of hers a few ideas about things...he'd never suspect if I was living in her body. (insert evil laugh...HAHAHAHAHA)
1) Have you ever visted a psychic? Did you believe what they told you?
Not a psychic but my coffee grounds were read in Turkey. The things he told me creeped me out and they all came true about a year later. I would never have it done again.
2) How old do you believe a child should be before he or she can date? Why?
Oh, probably about 16. But, with a 13 year old boy now that seems awfully young.
3) What was one completely illogical, arbitrary rule your parents imposed on you when you were a kid?
Having to wear dresses to school everyday, and homemade dresses at that. It was excruciating. I finally started wearing jeans in 9th grade and it's probably why I am always wearing jeans even now.
4) When was the last time you lost your temper?
Always!
5) What is one thing you would like to change about yourself that you are fairly certain you will never change?
My temper.
6) If you were asked to sing at your friend's wedding for $300, would you be willing to do so? She really wants you to.
Absolutely not.
7) Have you ever used the "it's not you, it's me" break-up line?
No.
8) Would you enjoy spending a month of solitude in a beautiful natural setting? Food and shelter would be provided but you would not see another person.
Yes, but I would want a comfy bed, internet, books, and good food.
9) What was the most recent movie that made you cry?
I cannot remember as we don't see many movies.
10) If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else currently living for a month, would you do so? Whom would you pick?
Yes I would. I would choose my dear friend that lost a son 2 months ago so I could bear her pain for a while.
1) Have you ever visted a psychic? Did you believe what they told you?
No I am scared of psychics - worry the things they say would come true.
2) How old do you believe a child should be before he or she can date? Why?
About 15 or so for one on one dates - younger they could go on group outings. I just think it puts too much pressure on a younger kid. My daughter was about 15 when she started dating.
3) What was one completely illogical, abritrary rule your parents imposed on you when you were a kid?
I was the youngest, so things were pretty loose, but my Dad was a minister and we had to go to church....I did a lot of daydreaming each Sunday.
4) When was the last time you lost your temper?
Yesterday when my sweet huband lost his temper at another driver - he scared me and I got mad and screamed at him! I have a quick temper.
5) What is one thing you would like to change about yourself that you are fairly certain you will never change?
My quick temper and impatience - I try.
6) If you were asked to sing at your friend's wedding for $300, would you be willing to do so? She really wants you to.
Yes, I would. I sing in a band, but I would be nervous at a wedding.
7) Have you ever used the "it's not you, it's me" break-up line?
No, but I should have.
8) Would you enjoy spending a month of solitude in a beautiful natural setting? Food and shelter would be provided but you would not see another person.
Only if there were books - lots of books.
9) What was the most recent movie that made you cry?
Can't think of a name, but any movie about an animal - I cry. Seabiscuit for sure.
10) If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else currently living for a month, would you do so? Whom would you pick?
Someone interesting like Meryl Streep.
) Have you ever visted a psychic? Did you believe what they told you? No
2) How old do you believe a child should be before he or she can date? Why? At one point I would have said 16, but now I'm thinking older because what's the point in dating until you can actually get married? Maybe just overly protective now that I have kids, but I'm thinking OLDER.
3) What was one completely illogical, abritrary rule your parents imposed on you when you were a kid? If you spilled your milk (or drink) at a meal you couldn't have any more. Yeah, I can see the logic of it now, but then it sucked.
4) When was the last time you lost your temper? Um, yesterday?
5) What is one thing you would like to change about yourself that you are fairly certain you will never change? See #4 - temper!
6) If you were asked to sing at your friend's wedding for $300, would you be willing to do so? She really wants you to. Hells, yeah - open bar, right?
7) Have you ever used the "it's not you, it's me" break-up line? Never.
8) Would you enjoy spending a month of solitude in a beautiful natural setting? Food and shelter would be provided but you would not see another person. Yes
9) What was the most recent movie that made you cry? I can't remember. It doesn't take much. That Folgers coffee Christmas commercial where Peter comes home and starts singing 'O holy night' makes me cry.
10) If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else currently living for a month, would you do so? Whom would you pick? I dont think so, maybe because I can't think of anybody I really *want* to be right now.
