Derfwad of the Week!

SB for Derf

Hi Derfs!

My name is Susan (I reply here as Susan B -not Anthony). I live in California and have been sporadically blogging for about two years now. I refer to my blog as “Blogging without a GPS” or “My Poor Neglected Blog” far too often.

I hit my mid forties and instead of an “A-HA!” moment I had a “WTF?” moment and blogging has been a way to sort through some of these issues through writing as well as connect with some like-minded women –especially ones who use words like “broads” and “slug of scotch”, and “Mancake”(which should be trade-marked).

Two years ago I became both an empty nester AND single(definitely a WTF? moment times infinity), so I am wandering through this early part of Middle Life exploring all my new options in this double whammy of freedom. At times it feels like a free-fall, but then the wind will catch me just right and I am awed by the view from here.

I also started a blog called DEAR MYSTERY MAN which began as a series of letters to the man I haven't met yet, but has stalled for while now because I'm sort of pissed he hasn't shown up, considering I wrote a blog for him and all. Once in while new posts show up there, however. I try to be forgiving of his tardiness.

By day I am an art dealer with a deep love of art. Strangely enough, I seem to have written more about Julia Roberts (who I don’t have a deep love for*) on my blog than I have about art. Hopefully that can change.

I like to write, have always written, have two stalled screenplays, and the beginnings of a book. I think.

Recording life and objects through astoundingly amateur photography is also a big part of the blog.  Mostly, it seems I write about my lack of inspiration to write, which is in fact writing (like right now), so it’s all good!

Stop on by and visit Welcome to the Middle of Life or Dear Mystery Man and I’ll pour you a glass of sangria topped off with a pink umbrella. We can sit on the porch and try and sort out all of our WTF moments together.

Cheers,

Susan

Hi, Susan! It's so nice to put a face and a little background to your name! I'll be right over...

Mrs. G., thanks again for this space! (Need company on your Cali trip?)

With those interesting blogs and that drink umbrella, I'm sure you'll write Mystery Man into existence. And your photos don't look very amateurish, young lady!

Hi Susan! How nice to get to know more about the Derfs!

I am going to pop over to take a read.
Keep waiting and don't settle for just any mystery man...make him worth you.
I would hate that he turn out to be like mystery meat, bland and tasteless...

So pleased to meet you indeed :)

Hello Susan, nice to meet you. Your photos are great! Oh, and I tried to leave a comment on your post with the Ellen video but my laptop gave me the boot right after I hit the "enter" key. It's definitely Monday on a Tuesday over here at my place.

HI! So nice to meetcha! Or really, to get to know you a bit. And WOW, you have an awesome ass. ;-)

At first I scrolled quick through the picture and it looked like you're standing in front of a mirror with a back-less dress. So of course I scrolled back up to stalk your ass, but it turns out you're just playing mind tricks.

Also, I'm very happy you're not Susan B. Anthony because I don't think I'd want to stare at her 19th century ass.

So nice to see your face!

Susan! I am automatically a fan of anyone who posts Kittens Inspired by Kittens! Nice to meet you.

Thanks Derfs! I wish that was my a** in the picture, sadly no. I just have a plain old 21st century arse.

And at this point in the game, my Mystery Man will have to be a delicious Mancake liberally frosted with sensitivity, happiness, humor, cooking skills, a penchant for foreign films, chivalry and be prone to adoration (of me, of course).
There will be no shoddy substitutes!

Rock on Derfs.
And thanks Mrs. G!!! You always bring a laugh to my day. And even when you don"t post, I like to come here and covet your cat painting and see what clever haiku Gary has written in the comments. Gotta love Gary.
Cheers!

Indeed, what better reason to blog than life's WTF moments?

Where in CA are you? I'm in LA.

Saying hello before I jump over to your blogs, Susan. You sound like my cup of sangria.

Hi Susan! I've always enjoyed your comments, so it's nice to put a face with you. Your blogs look great!

Nice to meet you, Susan. I went over to your blog, but kids and husband and dishes and end-of-the-day madness are keeping me from truly enjoying it. I'll check back at a calmer time.

@Aunt Snow - I'm in Santa Barbara. Hopefully us Californio's can gather together when Mrs. G makes her way through the Golden State.

Hi Susan! So nice to put a face with the name. Your blogs sound intriguing! I'll have to head over to them. As for me: It's been WTF-ville for a while around here. I know exactly how I would have handled this in my 20s, but at approaching 50 I have no clue. Which is a whole 'nother WTF?! in and of itself...
