Magic Minneapolis

Mrs. G. Mrs. G. was so excited to get to Minneapolis and meet Mary.
Or, as many of you know her as, Minnesota Matron! Mrs. G. and the Matron spent their days talking, eating, thrifting and covertly slinking into an afternoon showing of Magic Mike.
As they were sheepishly walking into the theater, a woman walked out and whispered, "Come on in. The theater is full of women." Mrs. G. felt like she was entering a live peep show.

Magic Mike, Magic Mike, what to say? Mrs. G. and the Matron guffawed, covered their eyes and even awwwed. They both liked it, even though Mrs. G. is pretty sure she has whiplash from all the pelvic thrusting.
Mary's home is a lively, happy place. There are kids, dogs and a cute husband in every nook and cranny. A special shout out to Merrick, the Matron's 9-year-old son, who is Mrs. G's soul derflet. She and Merrick have an alarming amount in common, particularly their mutual adoration of a show called The Middle. Merrick especially likes Brick while Mrs. G. is partial to Sue.
Mary is a gem. She truly is.
Mrs. G. and Mary headed to Nye's (voted Best Bar in America by somebody) to meet up with some other derfs. Nye's is an old school bar complete with red leather booths and seasoned waitresses with penciled on eyebrows and big ass hair.
Mrs. G. kept waiting for Tony Soprano and his crew to stroll into the joint.
One of Mrs. G's favorite moments in Nye's was watching a customer at the piano sing a frightful rendition of Feelings. When the woman was done, the benevolent, kindhearted piano player said into his mic, "Wow, babe, you're hired."
Nye's is that kind of place.
Kristen insisted Mrs. G. take a photo of the food to show the rest of tour (particularly Boston) that Minneapolis knows how to throw down a good meal.
And Minneapolis does.
It really does.
It was Mrs. G's final meet up so that made the evening extra special, extra sparkly. Many thanks to Denise (who Mrs. G. hadn't seen since 9th grade), Nina, Kristen and Mary.

"Soul derflet." I love that!
and whipped cream! Goodness that and a movie, I just can't stand that this will end! I know you are ready to go home but----I am sure I would follow you to the end of the earth and back again.
Love seeing more family!!!
Yummy in so many ways.
Yup, I'm getting to Minnesota if it kills me! What's not to love???!!!
So glad you got to meet up with new and old friends.
Whooo!! you all look so happy!! I love the sound of that bar - the cocktails look great.
I knew you'd fall in love with Merrick. He is the bomb.
And Mary rocks!
Ah, Mrs. G. . . .when you note that "alarming amount in common" with the nine-year-old derflet, let the Matron reinforce by adding The Office, Malcolm in the Middle, and the delights of dogs to the list of common interests. It was clear that Merrick and Mrs. G would make an insurmountable team on any trivia game involving TV shows about haphazard folk and canines : -). It was a kick to see Merrick's raw joy every time a GROWN-UP said "I LOVE THAT ONE TOO!" when a specific Middle or Malcolm exploit was mentioned.
Lovely to help wind up the derf tour and meet Denise, Kristen, Claudia and Nina!!
So lucky to meet more Derfs -- and especially Minnesota Matron *and* Merrick! (I think he's a little bit like one of my nephews, which makes me love him all the more.)
And oh! You saw Magic Mike! I'm taking your recommendation and running with it...
What a fitting ending to a wonderful trip.
Just wow. I am s amazed by all this and all the women you met. So when is the Western Tour?
So happy to meet you, Mary, Kristen, and Nina if only for a few minutes. So sorry I had to run off just as drinks were being served.
