Hi heather!! I have answers and will be back!

September 25, 2012 | Unregistered Commentermeredith@whynot

1. September is kicking my @$$. I hate going back to school. 6th grade homework is killing me and the boy in 6th grade.
2. pretty leaf colors, cooler weather, and apples
3. No. I aways wanted to go, though they didn't always turn out well.
4. I think they are all probably out there, but the ones our age want to go out with 25 year olds, and the younger ones, well, most of us already HAVE kids, you know?
5.mushrooms, if they count. If not, squash.
6. There are people in all of those categories whom I like better than others depending on the day, season of their life, and whether or not I slept enough the night before. But I don't think I really play favorites.
7. My imaginary dog is a German Shepherd.

September 25, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterAmy G. (no relation)

Of course I have a favorite kid! But the favorite changes daily, just to keep them guessing.

1) OK so far. I'm looking forward to this weekend when we see George Takei in "Allegiance."
2) Cool nights, crisp apples, and an abundance of candy.
3) And 4) I can't answer since I am long time married
5) Asparagus
6) well, I always favor my kids but not at the expense of anyone else
7) You know I'm a cat person.

1) How's September treating you? Fine, thanks. And you?

2) What are three things you like about fall? It's probably my least favorite season because it's the time of the dying, followed closely by the time of death. BUT, I love fall colors. the quality of light. the smell of the crisp air.

3) Have you ever gone on a date you absolutely didn't want to go on? YES, many decades ago, before I learned it was more kind to say no thanks.

4) Over on the site Just One Question Julie asks, "Where are all the guys for older women?" Julie is a self described cougar. Any ideas? Nope. Married and happy.

5) What is your favorite vegetable? it's a toss up between artichokes dipped in butter or avocados right from the skin or grilled asparagus.

6) Do you show favoritism to your kids, friends or co-workers? Yes, to all three categories. Sorry.

7) What kind of dog do you have? Two rescue dogs, a lab mix (a curse on our lives) and a boxer mix. Much much loved family members. We've been known to look at each other as say "what did we used to talk about before we got the dogs?"

September 25, 2012 | Unregistered Commentercheryl

we are having the most wonderful September, come back! The weather has been warn during the day and chilly at nihgt, open window sleeping. Love it.
I love fall. I love the promise of cooler weather, pumpkins, apples, warm shirts and the stars can be amazing. I love fall colors and the reds, yellows, orange...sigh.
Yes, it was so akward and the guy was so nice but we were so very wrong.
I don't know.
Oh, I love veggies. I will take them all- but artichokes- dear lord- I love them.
I have a favorite son and a favorite daughter. And, tell no one that I am sleeping with my co-worker...shhhhhhh.
No dog, but I have been dreaming about dogs....what does that mean?

1) How's September treating you? Very well, thank you! I created a page on FB, did you know? I'd love for you and any Derfs that are interested to join :-) Here's the addy: http://www.facebook.com/HeartsHereThereandEverywhere

2) What are three things you like about fall? The crisp, cool weather, the gorgeous foliage and all the awesome autumn fruits and veggies!

3) Have you ever gone on a date you absolutely didn't want to go on? A few...but you have to pick through the weeds to get to the blossoms.

4) Over on the site Just One Question Julie asks, "Where are all the guys for older women?" Julie is a self described cougar. Any ideas? Dunno...I found mine on Facebook!

5) What is your favorite vegetable? Lately, roasted brussels sprouts ;-)

6) Do you show favoritism to your kids, friends or co-workers? Co-workers, definitely. I ignore orange girl.

7) What kind of dog do you have? SHIBA INU!!!

*Bonus: What's the best breakfast cereal ever invented. Oh, I love Life cereal!!!

September 25, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJanet

1) How's September treating you?

Like a dog treats a fire hydrant.

2) What are three things you like about fall?

1. It's not summer.
2. It's not hot.
3. Among the lowest utility bills of the year because we don't have to heat or cool.

3) Have you ever gone on a date you absolutely didn't want to go on?

Absolutely, no. Kind of didn't want to, yes. Didn't go out with him again.

4) Over on the site Just One Question Julie asks, "Where are all the guys for older women?" Julie is a self described cougar. Any ideas?

None whatsoever.

5) What is your favorite vegetable?

spinach or zucchini.

6) Do you show favoritism to your kids, friends or co-workers?

I don't think so.

7) What kind of dog do you have?

Two cats. I've never had a dog, and doubt I ever will. I don't hate dogs, I just don't want one.

What's the best breakfast cereal ever invented.

The long gone Oreo breakfast cereal. Think Cheerios-like O's, except made of that deep, almost black chocolate goodness that is the outside of an Oreo cookie. It tasted a lot like that, but with more of a breakfast cereal texture. It was perfect. Of course it was discontinued.

1) How's September treating you?- It's not too bad, but I wish the weather would stop with the back & forth. Pick a season and let's go with it.

2) What are three things you like about fall?- sleeping with the windows open, cider & donuts, crunchy leaves underfoot

3) Have you ever gone on a date you absolutely didn't want to go on?- Yes, my best friend tried to set me up on a blind date with her then boss. He was a loser. And married, which he 'forgot' to ever mention.

4) Over on the site Just One Question Julie asks, "Where are all the guys for older women?"- How young a guy does Julie want? I can't answer this question, there are days when I barely want the guy I have that's my age.

5) What is your favorite vegetable?- My husband. I kid, I kid!! Probably Brussels sprouts.

6) Do you show favoritism to your kids, friends or co-workers? - I would say towards a couple of co-workers I do. But only because everyone else in the office is so mind-numbingly stupid.

7) What kind of dog do you have?- I don't, I have the best little bird in the world, (Re)Pete! (sorry Mrs. G!) But if I did have a dog, I would love to have an English bulldog. Yes, they're drooly, snuffly and gassy, but I just love them.

September 25, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterKelley

Mrs. G, I'm glad you're back!

1) Keeping up with school/work/life balance is not going well. Have to skip a class on Thursday for an emergency parent-teacher conference. Coparenting means I'm still carrying all the load, but there are days now when the kids are not being parented, and they are suffering for it.

2) Cooler weather, getting out my woolies, cider! and have to go out for apple cider donuts.

3) Once. I didn't know it was a date, thought we were just hanging out as friends, and then it was awkward.

4) Don't know and haven't been looking very hard. Chatting with a friend about this yesterday, actually. I'm not even divorced yet and multiple friends are shoving me towards another relationship ("You're still young, you're attractive, you'll love again, yadda yadda") Her thought was that all men our age come with baggage. Sometimes it's a lunchbox, sometimes it's a whole Louis Vuitton matching set with three extra large suitcases and a couple of trunks.

5) Catalan spinach (olive oil, pine nuts, currants, apple chunks); Afghan style roasted pumpkin

6) Honestly, yes, sometimes, for my events bookings. If you're talented AND have a decent personality, I'm more likely to hire you.

7) Two kitties, no dog. Experiencing dog lust though and thinking about a whippet, Sheltie, or cocker spaniel cross . . . all dogs I've lived with or spent quality time with and would welcome the kin of.

September 25, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterVivianne

1) September - not so different from August in Houston!

2 ) Fall - time to put my cowboy boots back on! Love wearing them with long skirts to work. SO comfortable. I also love buying pumpkins, planning holiday cooking and celebrating Bruce's birthday on Halloween. It's also the only time of year I bring out my Dia de los Muertos collection and this year I have elaborate plans for an ofrenda for my mother.

3) Reluctant Date?.....nope.

4) Older guys - they've all turned Republican. At least according to my Facebook.

5) Favorite vegetable - perfectly cooked asparagus.

6) Favoritism - not with the kids and co-workers. Different friends for different moods/activities.

7) Dogs - Great Dane and Chihuahua

September 25, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterBonnie

Shredded Wheat - the large version - I loved eating it when I was a kid - sugar on top and puncturing it with a spoon.

It's also hard to beat Frosted Flakes w Bananas.

I don't eat any of this stuff any more - sugar, dairy, wheat! Ack!

September 25, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterBonnie

1) How's September treating you? Wedding was wonderful on the 1st...still floating just above the breaking waves.

2) What are three things you like about fall? Cooler weather, fewer mosquitos, pumpkin pie in the oven

3) Have you ever gone on a date you absolutely didn't want to go on? Yep. Once.

4) Over on the site Just One Question Julie asks, "Where are all the guys for older women?" Julie is a self described cougar. Any ideas? Nope, I found mine online though.

5) What is your favorite vegetable? Potato

6) Do you show favoritism to your kids, friends or co-workers? Likely, even when I try not to, so I try to be aware and balance it out.

7) What kind of dog do you have? Love Siberian dogs, Malamutes, and Newfies...

*Bonus: What's the best breakfast cereal ever invented. Oatmeal!

1) I'm off work for the entire month because of ankle surgery so that's a plus. However my mother is now doing my laundry again so I'm not sure how that makes me feel.

2) Being able to wear layers, changing leaves and pumpkin spice lattes!

3) Yeah with this creeper from work. Fortunately stalky mcstalkerson was fired just a few days later so I haven't had to seen him since!!!

4) I'm only 28 so I have no idea.

5) I don't know that I have a favorite. I would prefer fruit instead.

6) I do towards my 3 yr old niece, Ashlynn. She is only with us about 25% of the year so while she is here I tend to focus mainly on her. However I make sure to get quality time in with Trinity, Collin and once Evalynn is toddling around I will with her too!

7) I have a half yellow lab - half whip it. She lives with my parents. I have a fish that lives at my house who routinely does things to try to kill himself.

Bonus: Special K Chocolatey Delight. Now that I'm not suppose to have gluten I would say Honey Nut Chex.

September 25, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterTonya Lynn

I amend my response number 1. I haven't showered since August 22nd thanks to my ankle surgery so this month actually sucks.

September 25, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterTonya Lynn

1) How's September treating you?
Pretty damn good. Real good. Things looking up good.

2) What are three things you like about fall?
I like the cooking and the wearing pants and the color. Love long walks in the woods. Afghans. Scarves.

3) Have you ever gone on a date you absolutely didn't want to go on?
Yup. Lesson learned.

4) Over on the site Just One Question Julie asks, "Where are all the guys for older women?" Julie is a self described cougar. Any ideas?
Art openings. Museum volunteering. That is all I got.

5) What is your favorite vegetable?
Radishes, wait, snow peas, no, broccoli,.....kohlrabi. I can't pick. I love them all

6) Do you show favoritism to your kids, friends or co-workers?
I am a parent to one, and a step parent to two. I of course am closer to my biological child. Among my step children I know I favor my step daughter.

7) What kind of dog do you have?
I don't, but am really feeling the urge. I have been trolling the websites of local adoption agencies....just looking.

*Bonus: What's the best breakfast cereal ever invented.
I can't consume milk, so pass. I do eat cherrios with orange juice, but that just makes most people feel queasy.

1) How's September treating you?
Great, business has picked up considerably, I am actually a bit stressed at how hard I am having to work right now and through November and hate that I am missing all this wonderful weather that has come along. But I took Sunday off and played outside, so it is all good.

2) What are three things you like about fall?
The changing temperatures, the colors and the general feeling and awareness that comes with a change of season to the newness and all the possibilities that I can explore and achieve. I love all the changes of seasons but summer to fall, I just love because it takes us to winter when we can slow down and relax by the fire.

3) Have you ever gone on a date you absolutely didn't want to go on?
I don’t think so, when I was single for many years, my banker in our rural town set me up for a date. She thought we’d be a great pair, but I knew that she didn’t really know me and had so many doubts that I cancelled it. He ended up calling and coming by the shop “to see what he had missed”. I knew then that I had done the right thing in cancelling, and I didn't tell him that he had missed out on anything (he just never had the opportunity)

4) Over on the site Just One Question Julie asks, "Where are all the guys for older women?" Julie is a self described cougar. Any ideas? Tough one, they are out there, perhaps a cougar can hunt them down? It seems that friends are the best way to find good people. A friend of mine met her husband by joining a hiking club, so perhaps joining a club that interests you.

5) What is your favorite vegetable? Asparagus, well and artichokes and avocados, maybe the A veggies, but I love all of them!

6) Do you show favoritism to your kids, friends or co-workers? Usually

7) What kind of dog do you have? He is a mix of lab, bird dog, grayhound and other stuff. I found him when he was 12 weeks old, abandoned in the woods, with puncture wounds in his snout and a broken jaw, probably from an older job grabbing him when he tried to get some food. He is now 6 years old and totally spoiled by us and his 3 kitties and has been a total joy.

1) How's September treating you? Delightful, thanks. Hope you're doing well!

2) What are three things you like about fall? The changing leaves, the cooler temps, and my birthday!!! This is my first fall in about 10 years--I was living in countries without noticeably changing seasons--and so it's especially exciting for me.

3) Have you ever gone on a date you absolutely didn't want to go on? Nope.

4) Over on the site Just One Question Julie asks, "Where are all the guys for older women?" Julie is a self described cougar. Any ideas? If I knew, I'd be going after them myself.

5) What is your favorite vegetable? Carrots.

6) Do you show favoritism to your kids, friends or co-workers? No kids. The others, I try to be nice to everyone, but I suppose there's some favoritism.

7) What kind of dog do you have? Two incorrigible basset hounds. Both rescued.

1) How's September treating you? Kicking my butt, afraid if you looked up annoyed/depressed/pissed off in general my face would be there. My house is a mess but it's the "you gotta make a mess to clean up a mess" kind of me. And I feel kind of alone, not lonely but alone. All of this will pass I know.

2) What are three things you like about fall? Sweaters, cold mornings/warm days/no heat or a/c required, new TV.

3) Have you ever gone on a date you absolutely didn't want to go on?Yes....
4) Over on the site Just One Question Julie asks, "Where are all the guys for older women?" Julie is a self described cougar. Any ideas? If you find this will you share with me please?
5) What is your favorite vegetable? Tomatoes

6) Do you show favoritism to your kids, friends or co-workers? Doesn't everyone? It's easy to be nice to the less crazy ones.

7) What kind of dog do you have?None but my bucket list dog is a corgi or an english bulldog. Or a mutt that's scruffy looking.

*Bonus: What's the best breakfast cereal ever invented.
Corn pops are my guilty pleasure. I have about one bowl a year.

1) How's September treating you?

I broke the zipper on a pair of jeans, I locked my keys in my car (only the second time in my life), I think that car is dripping/burning oil, and I made a STUPID mistake on an econ assignment that means I will have to scrabble and claw for the rest of the semester just to pass. How do you think September is treating me, hmmm?

2) What are three things you like about fall?

1. It's not winter.
2. Open windows.
3. It's not winter.

3) Have you ever gone on a date you absolutely didn't want to go on?

Well, none that started out that way. But there were definitely a few I didn't want to continue after the first few moments.

4) Over on the site Just One Question Julie asks, "Where are all the guys for older women?" Julie is a self described cougar. Any ideas?

All of the decent guys are still married to their first wives. All of the available guys are channeling Humbert Humbert.

5) What is your favorite vegetable?

Zucchini. Except when it's broccoli.

6) Do you show favoritism to your kids, friends or co-workers?

Well, I have to admit that my oldest niece is my favorite. She and I have always had a special bond. Otherwise, there are people with whom I have closer relationships and that means I am more inclined to spend time with them or seek them out but I don't think I treat them differently.

7) What kind of dog do you have?

No dog right ow. I had a cocker spaniel and someday I will have another dog to love.

What's the best breakfast cereal ever invented?

Cap'n Crunch with Crunchberries. It tears up my mouth something fierce and it has absolutely no nutritional value but it is sooooooo tasty!

1) How's September treating you? Pretty good, not bad, I can't complain.

2) What are three things you like about fall? Warm days and cool nights/leaves changing colors/adding soup back to my menus.

3) Have you ever gone on a date you absolutely didn't want to go on? Unfortunately yes. Mostly ones that I would have loved to escape about halfway through.

4) Over on the site Just One Question Julie asks, "Where are all the guys for older women?" Julie is a self described cougar. Any ideas? I am quite thankful that I am married and not looking for any dates. That said, I know of a few folks who have found a permanent partner using online dating sites. It might be worth a try.

5) What is your favorite vegetable? Asparagus

6) Do you show favoritism to your kids, friends or co-workers? I show favoritism to my daughter (but she's an only child, so no one else gets jealous). I do favor some people over others but I try not to let it show.

7) What kind of dog do you have? We had a yellow labrador retriever. He was one fantastic dog and I miss him all the time. He's been gone 3 years and it feels like he died just yesterday. He was quite a little rascal.

Cereal: I don't eat much cereal any more, but Raisin Bran was my go-to cereal.

1) How's September treating you?
Good! My son moved to Florida and is living with us for a while. I have missed him. Our 33rd anniversary was last week and my husband bought us annual passes to Disney. I'm back up to walking 2 miles a day.

2) What are three things you like about fall?
In Florida, the temps go down to the 80's and it's still beach weather.
I feel like cooking more big meals.
The parks and beaches are not too crowded.

3) Have you ever gone on a date you absolutely didn't want to go on?
No. I have only had 3 relationships, all in high school. I was engaged at 18 years old.

4) Over on the site Just One Question Julie asks, "Where are all the guys for older women?" Julie is a self described cougar. Any ideas?
No idea.

5) What is your favorite vegetable?
Butternut squash

6) Do you show favoritism to your kids, friends or co-workers?
I don't think so.

7) What kind of dog do you have?
My dog is a 10 month old black kitty cat

What's the best breakfast cereal ever invented.
Alpha-Bits with Marshmallows. Sadly, I'm now diabetic and can only eat cereal with less than 7 grams of sugar. That leaves Shredded Wheat and Rice Krispies. Bland-O-Rama

1. September has been fair to middlin'
2. I love the drop in temperatures, morning fog and turning leaves
3. In high school I went on a lot of dates I didn't want to...I had trouble saying no
4. Bars?
5. Artichokes and asparagus
6. I don't think so. Like someone up above said, I have a favorite daughter and a favorite son
7. 2 cockapoos (with a little of this and that)
8. Trader Joes Gluten Free Granola/Rainforest Blend...I can eat gluten and I still love it! Sugar Smacks aren't bad either

  1) How's September treating you?
Like the bus in Speed and I'm Sandra Bullock. Zero to 50 (85 km/hour in Canada)and no foot on the brake.

2) What are three things you like about fall?
The trees turning yellow, cool mornings and warm afternoons (it's usually the nicest month of the year) and all the great produce at the market.

3) Have you ever gone on a date you absolutely didn't want to go on?
Once, in Grade11 with a guy two inches shorter than me. Because my mother said I should let him down easy...and in my mind, that equated with "guess I shouldn't say no".

4) Over on the site Just One Question Julie asks, "Where are all the guys for older women?" Julie is a self described cougar. Any ideas?
I think they are out with younger women, sadly. Although there are some nice single guys in my running group. But you have to want to run.

5) What is your favorite vegetable?
Love, love, love brocooli.

6) Do you show favoritism to your kids, friends or co-workers?
Well, it's harder to like a surly teenager sometimes, so the older and younger are easier to deal with. Friends, no, not really. Co-workers, definitely yes.

7) What kind of dog do you have?
Don't have one (yet). But if I did, it would be one that doesn't shed.

1) How's September treating you?
It's taken me most of the month, but I think I'm finally getting the hang of it. And you?

2) What are three things you like about fall?
Cool nights, warm days, constantly changing colors

3) Have you ever gone on a date you absolutely didn't want to go on?
Yes. I had recently been on the losing end of a break-up, and one of his good friends asked me out to a movie. I thought it was a non-date until he put his arm around me and held my hand... A nice guy, but I didn't want to date him. (I still wanted the other guy back!)

4) Over on the site Just One Question Julie asks, "Where are all the guys for older women?"
If she wants young ones, perhaps they are still in school? (As a WSU mom, I am loving that big cat in the picture.)

5) What is your favorite vegetable?
Currently, I'd say zucchini (but that's only because I am attempting to be a zucchini bread baking machine).
If I truly have to pick a favorite, it might just be plain ol' Romaine lettuce.

6) Do you show favoritism to your kids, friends or co-workers?
Each of my kids is my favorite. (And like Suburban Correspondent wrote above, it changes daily just to keep them on their toes!) Seriously, when I tuck them into bed, I say "You're my favorite ____ year-old." Fill in the age, and as long as you don't have twins, it works! They lap it up like a dog laps up gravy. Plus, I really do mean it.

7) What kind of dog do you have?
I don't have one, although I've always been partial to retrievers -- goldens, labs, pretty much the entire family of retrievers.
However, I do have a "pretty kitty" (she answers to that!) who is possibly Washington State's best traveler!

1) How's September treating you?
It has been hitting me with a large stick, as I've just started a masters degree in Applied Linguistics and am beginning to understand what module distance learning around your daily life in a foreign country really means.
It is also supplying a huge quantity of brilliant experiences, like being part of the launch of the Inside Out Project which involves cities around the world, and lots of great friends. So September can stay.

2) What are three things you like about fall?
Crisp bright mornings
But here in DF, they aren't the same as the Blighty ones, so I'll have to let you know how I get on.

3) Have you ever gone on a date you absolutely didn't want to go on?
Yes, to tell the aforementioned date that though he was on paper the man of dreams and indeed in person, one of the most excellent people I've ever hung out with, that I never wanted to see him naked so we couldn't date
it was horrid because it embodied all those cliches 'it's not you, it's me'. 'let's just be friends' and the other things that make you just a little bit sick in your own mouth when someone says them to you.

4) Over on the site Just One Question Julie asks, "Where are all the guys for older women?" Julie is a self described cougar. Any ideas?
I have no idea. I moved to Mexico not knowing that Mexicans settle down so young. Thus everyone I meet who is single is around 12 to 15 years younger than I am and once we've established that, they are kind of mildly off put.

5) What is your favorite vegetable?
Mushroooooooommmmmm

6) Do you show favoritism to your kids, friends or co-workers?
In what way?
Evidently I favour spending my time with people most excellent...

7) What kind of dog do you have?
An invisible silent one.
That's actually a kick ass cat.

1) How's September treating you? It's kicking my ass. Manic in the literal sense of the word. I thought September 2011 was bad...

2) What are three things you like about fall? Aside from above, I like the cool sleeping weather, wearing layers, and (sometimes) the start of the school year.

3) Have you ever gone on a date you absolutely didn't want to go on? Yes. On the advice of a couple of folks. Then repeated the mistake with the same person for a few months. Silly me.

6) Do you show favoritism to your kids, friends or co-workers? Only the one child and in September (see above) he is not my favorite. I publicly claim to never have a favorite student, but I always have one I love more than the rest. I can't help it. This year's chosen one is so stinking cute, he's making September bearable.

7) What kind of dog do you have? The best dog in the world. She's half wire-haired dachshund and half yorkie and she is super snuggly right now when the temps are dropping. Great therapy for September.

*Bonus: What's the best breakfast cereal ever invented. Reese's Puff's for dessert. They don't suck at all.

1) How's September treating you? Most awesome, thanks. Great weather and our house was painted yippee!

2) What are three things you like about fall? Well, colors, sure, the lead up to Christmas too. But it was such a nice summer, I wish it still was! We have had 30s many nights already....

3) Have you ever gone on a date you absolutely didn't want to go on? Do you remember Wayne's World, the movie? There was a woman they all avoided and I think called a hose monster or something? I had some sort of date with a person like that....

4) Over on the site Just One Question Julie asks, "Where are all the guys for older women?" Julie is a self described cougar. Any ideas?
Haha, we are taken! My wife is quite a bit older than me and she snapped me up 20 years ago!

5) What is your favorite vegetable? Bell peppers! On pizza, in beans, roasted, everywhere!

6) Do you show favoritism to your kids, friends or co-workers? I would have to answer that with my dog and cat: the dog is so very demanding of attention and the cat so quiet, you have to remember how sweet and wonderful the cat is!

7) What kind of dog do you have? Why a beagle, of course, what else?

*Bonus: What's the best breakfast cereal ever invented. I just had cream of wheat with blackberries and apple sauce and that is pretty darn good :)

1) How's September treating you?
There have been just a few very bad days, but mostly it has been wonderful. Today is my oldest son's birthday. Yesterday we drove 17 hours from Kansas, and today we have 5 more hours to drive to see him in North Carolina. He gets married on Sunday to a really great girl.

2) What are three things you like about fall?
fall leaves and color, crisp autumn air, the smells of autumn (dry leaves, bonfires, apples, pumpkin, cinnamon, good things baking)
Fall is my favorite season!

3) Have you ever gone on a date you absolutely didn't want to go on? Yes. I told him I wasn't interested in him as more than a friend, and he insisted we could just go somewhere as friends. Clearly he was lying and thought he could just win me over. It was awkward, and I felt bad because he really was a nice guy.

4) Over on the site Just One Question Julie asks, "Where are all the guys for older women?" Julie is a self described cougar.
Sorry. I'm 41 and got married when I was 18. All the places I know to look have to do with high school, and, cougar or no, that's just too young.

5) What is your favorite vegetable?
I used to hate most vegetables, but now I realize that so much of it depends on the preparation. I really like spinach, zucchini, asparagus, and artichokes. I don't know that I have a favorite.

6) Do you show favoritism to your kids, friends or co-workers?
I don't show favoritism with my kids or friends. Sometimes it's hard not to show favoritism towards the kids at the elementary school where I work because some kids have annoying habits and some are just so cute. I've been the one who really loves some of the difficult children, though. Some of them are my favorites, though I try not to let it show. As for co-workers, there are just some people you like better than others. I try very hard to be kind to everyone. Sometimes I fail.

7) What kind of dog do you have?
We have a Westie named Hamish Fergus Madadh (say "mu-dug")

Breakfast cereal: I really love oatmeal. Sometimes I eat it for lunch or for dinner, and it's my favorite comfort food when I'm sick.

1) How's September treating you? Pretty good so far! Making friends and really settling in here has been nice.

2) What are three things you like about fall? Trees turning, festivals, hot apple cider

3) Have you ever gone on a date you absolutely didn't want to go on? Yes, only once. My best friend set me up in high school. Then I ended up dating this guy for two damn weeks and just wouldn't kiss me. C'MON.

4) Over on the site Just One Question Julie asks, "Where are all the guys for older women?" Julie is a self described cougar. Any ideas? They are having mid-life crises in which they marry a younger woman.

5) What is your favorite vegetable? As a Kansan born and raised I'd say corn. But honestly, I don't consider that a vegetable so let's go with broccoli, yum!

6) Do you show favoritism to your kids, friends or co-workers? Not to my kid (would be hard to show favoritism to just one). I try to be nice to everyone, but if I don't like someone I'm not as warm as I should be.

7) What kind of dog do you have? Corgi/basset hound/beagle mix. She's adorbs. The people at the pound said she is a basset/german shepherd mix, but she's so small...smaller than most bassets even.

1. September has treated me fairly well...considering I mourn the end of summer.

2. The three things I like about fall are cooler temps, the COLORS!, and pumpkins.

3. I have never gone on a date I really didn't want to.

4. Julie, I have no answer.

5. Asparagus is my favorite vegetable.

6. Not to kids, I don't work, but I do with my friends. Honestly, I just like some better than others!

7. I have two rescue mutts, my bitches! They rock! I have recently added a chihuahua mix to the fur family after my son volunteered at the county shelter all summer. He is precious, and fiesty, and none of the three dogs seem to recognize the 30 pound size disparity. They keep it lively here and then they all snuggle up into one big pile of fur.

*Bonus? I don't eat cereal anymore, but as a kid I loved Sugar Smacks. I think they are called Honey Smacks now, and probably taste yucky. lolol

1) How's September treating you? Wonderfully!!! This cooler weather really makes me happy!

2) What are three things you like about fall? Cooler weather, football, bonfires

3) Have you ever gone on a date you absolutely didn't want to go on? Nope.

4) Over on the site Just One Question Julie asks, "Where are all the guys for older women?" Julie is a self described cougar. Any ideas? Bookstore? Golf club? Fraternity (? teach those young me a thing or two - ha ha - or check out the profs!)

5) What is your favorite vegetable? Is the tomato a vegetable? If so, then hands down. If not, then perhaps potato.

6) Do you show favoritism to your kids, friends or co-workers?I don't think I do to my kids. I guess if I went to work any more I do show favoritism there, but only towards co-workers that are actually my friends. I really dont have that many "friends" anymore, so I guess I dont do much with them.

7) What kind of dog do you have? No dog, a cat.

*Bonus: What's the best breakfast cereal ever invented.
Hmmm, Peanut Butter Captain Crunch

Forgot the bonus question. While I love some good oatmeal, the fall weather has me craving Maypo. Do they even make it any more? I checked the grocery shelves when I was in the midwest this summer, but no luck.

1) How's September treating you?
Can't complain....it's cooler which is very, very nice

1. September is going ok! The Girl is back to school and I FINALLY had an interview for a job. Pending my background check I will be a substitute nurse at my daughter's school!!! It's a start!!

2. The crisp air, beautiful colors on the hills all over upstate NY, and visits to the local pumpkin farms!

3. Dates?? I don't remember. Well there was this one guy...

4. Sorry, I haven't been a part of the dating scene in 14 yrs. Isn't all dating online now??

5. Favorite veggie? Tough call maybe cucumbers or baby bella mushrooms, which is weird because I have HATED mushrooms my entire life until recently.

6. I only have one child so yes she is spoiled and rotten and favored all the time and I do tend show favoritism to my select group of girlfriends.

7. I have a black pug named Rocky. He snores, snorts, sheds, smells and is completely annoying but I love him!

Bonus question: My absolute fave is Special K Vanilla Almond with vanilla almond milk!

1) How's September treating you?
Not too bad, had a nice vacation early in the month and work is only mildly sucky.

2) What are three things you like about fall?
Warm days and cool nights
Our Rocky Mountain aspens turning glorious shades of gold
The crunch crunch crunching sound of leaves beneath your feet

3) Have you ever gone on a date you absolutely didn't want to go on?
Yes. One of my brother's friends had a crush on me when I was younger but I didn't want anything to do with him. He kept asking me out, then one day mom suggested I go out with him "just one time." It was her belief that he might leave me alone if the date didn't go well. Oh yeah, the date didn't go well, but he remained persistent. And it's entirely possible mom may have downed a few beers before she threw out that hair-brained idea.

4) Over on the site Just One Question Julie asks, "Where are all the guys for older women?" Julie is a self described cougar. Any ideas?
Not a single one. But it has come to my attention that there is a totally hot new maintenance guy--no more than 30 is my guess--working in our building. Purrrrrr...

5) What is your favorite vegetable?
Corn

6) Do you show favoritism to your kids, friends or co-workers?
No kids, only a few friends and I treat them equally. I do probably show favoritism at work but it's easy to do when some of your co-workers are complete nitwits.

7) What kind of dog do you have?
Two mixed breed herding dogs: Tonka is a cattle dog/aussie mix which I have since learned is called a "Texas Heeler" and he is hands down the smartest dog I've ever owned. Daisy is a corgi/border collie mix. She's not the brightest crayon in the box so I'm thinking the border collie genius may have skipped a generation in her case.

Not a huge fan of cereal anymore, although I used to love love love Sugar Pops (now they are called Corn Pops, as if there is no longer sugar involved...)

2) What are three things you like about fall? The temp....cooking and baking and not dying doing it because of heat and humidity, getting to use the fireplace again.

3) Have you ever gone on a date you absolutely didn't want to go on? Gosh....I can't remember that far back!

4) Over on the site Just One Question Julie asks, "Where are all the guys for older women?" Julie is a self described cougar. Any ideas? Well, the only thing I can think of is, when you stop looking, there they are!

6) Do you show favoritism to your kids, friends or co-workers? The kids and friends I just love. The co-workers.....I just put a smile on my face an pretend.

7) What kind of dog do you have? shitzu and a rescue King Charles Cavelier (if that is what you call it....I always screw it up) - but no matter what, they are both absolutely adorable and make our empty nest a home!

*Bonus: What's the best breakfast cereal ever invented. Fruit Loops!

1) How's September treating you? - I'm having a rough one so far. Lots of ups and downs. Busy. Changes. And for some reason the arthritis in my knees has kicked up.

2) What are three things you like about fall? - What I liked about fall when I lived in Seattle is not present in Los Angeles - but I do like a turn to cooler weather. We just don't get the pretty foliage much, and it's still dry.

3) Have you ever gone on a date you absolutely didn't want to go on? I didn't go on many dates at all. I think I did go on a date that was arranged by a friend, and I just didn't click with the guy. I don't remember it well.

4) Over on the site Just One Question Julie asks, "Where are all the guys for older women?" Julie is a self described cougar. Any ideas? I am acquainted with several couples who met and fell in love in their older years, so I think they're out there - you just have to look carefully.

5) What is your favorite vegetable? I like beans and greens.

6) Do you show favoritism to your kids, friends or co-workers? I have only one kid, and my coworkers are a small group. It used to be that there was a rift in the office, where two people didn't like one person. When those people retired, and a new hire came in, she gradually fell into the same reaction with the one person. Something about that one person. I tried to ease tensions, but I was glad when that one person transferred out.

7) What kind of dog do you have? A malamute mix

I love the Fall, but here in NOLA Fall doesn't usually start until about mid-November. This year it's cooler than usual, with highs in the mid-80's and cool breezes. We've turned the a/c off a few times now. I miss the leaves changing, the big flower balls on hydrangeas drying on the bush, the need for sweaters (I remember heavy, thick sweaters with much longing). On the other hand, sweet olive is blooming again, as are quite a number of other flowers, and two of my tomato plants made it through the heat; one just got a new bud.

In my twenties, I went on a date with a poet who was a beautiful writer; looks and personality, not so much. I like him but had no romantic interest. I agreed because I wanted to develop the friendship, removing the obstacle of one-sided attraction. As we drove from one bar to another, I told him I valued him as a friend but didn't want a physical relationship. He slammed on the brakes while pulling over, and yelled, "GET OUT! I have enough friends! GET OUT OF MY CAR!" Is is twisted that I still laugh remembering being dumped by the side of the road?

I have a few friends who seem to prefer younger men. I have met a few of interest, but if I didn't have my beau, I'd don't think I'd practice ageism. When we first got together, he made a few comments about the beauty of younger women. I worried aloud that he'd go off with one. He replied, "Yes, I like to look. I've seen you look at younger men. But: you and I both have acquired a lot of baggage through the years. Some we made, some others made for us. I do not want to add to another's burdens. Our baggage fits well together, don't you think?" It's merged well through the years, and I believe a fair amount has actually disappeared (or at least has attained weightlessness).

Favorite vegetable? Depends on the time of year.

I do show favoritism, though not outwardly (I hope). I tend to hang with those who don't add to my baggage (see above).

I've had some great dogs in the past but I'll probably never have a dog again,. If I do it will be a Maine Coon cat.

Favorite cereal - old beau and I made a great muesli.

My, I do go on. Have a wonderful Wednesday, everybody - I'm off to the tile mines - naomi in nola

1. September - Fine; everyone is settling into school but the rush of the holidays hasn't begun.
2. Three things about fall - Mosquitoes are going away, I can mow the grass and the fallen leaves at the same time, almost time to get my favorite boots back out.
3. Date I didn't want to go on - I said yes a couple of times just because I wasn't bold enough to say thanks but no thanks. They were nice but there was no chemistry.
4. Cougar dates - Ummm, what looks like the high school male cross country team runs past my house every day around 4:00, usually shirtless by the time they get this far. That young? Beyond that, I'd say dating sites and Meetup.
5. Vegetable - all the fall ones, roasted.
6. Favoritism - definitely in my mind, as far as the kids go, but I try to be aware of it and deal.
7. Dog - a shelter cat who isn't afraid of any of the neighbor dogs. She tells them what's what if they get too close.

cereal - Golden Grahams, though I never eat them anymore.

1. September is my favorite month....orchestra starts again, it's my birthday in a few days, and it's not August anymore. August was rough.
2. Fall? I live in Florida, we don't have fall. But I get to go "up north" for work and it was glorious there last week. Crisp leaves, cool evenings, lovely sunny days, APPLES in season. I miss fall. (and spring, and winter too)
3. I stupidly went on a date with someone in an attempt to stop them from continuing to ask me out. It was miserable and a dumb idea but it worked.
4. I have no idea where the men are. I have a nice one who is my husband and great ones who are friends so I wasn't aware that they were in hiding.
5. I love vegetables! Asparagus, Broccoli...especially when roasted, peppers, peas, squash, tomatoes....love them all.
6. I don't have kids but I'm fairly sure that I do show favoritism to friends. That's sort of the point of having friends.
7. I don't have a dog, I have 3 awesome cats. We will hopefully get a dog on the next move to a more dog-friendly house and yard. However, this week I'm dog sitting for my neighbor's HUGE black German Shepherd. He's an amazing dog and I love him. People tend to get out of your way when you come down the sidewalk with a giant black dog. What they don't know is he is a total sweetheart.
8. I'm not a fan of cold cereal but I love oatmeal and make some pretty amazing granola.

1. September --- busy, Busy, BUSY! But mostly still good.
2. Fall --- cool nights, warm days, leaves changing colors. Start of hunting season, less bugs, football.
3. Date I didn't want to go on --- once. And it turned out as painfully awful as I was afraid it might!
4. I have no idea where the men are. I'm just eternally grateful and thrilled with the one I have!
5. Vege --- Squash
6. I hope with all my heart that I don't favor one of our kids over another... Friends and coworkers, sure!
7. Dog --- Two labs, one black and one yellow. Outside, of course.

Bonus: Breakfast cereal --- Honey Bunches of Oats. Mmmmmm, sigh...

1) September has sucked so far. I am hoping for October.
2) cooler weather (I hope soon), apple picking season, Thanksgiving
3) I can't remember any dates as I have been married too long. Can't even remember the last time Hubby and I had a "date night"
4) I have no idea where the men are hiding. My single sister seems to find plenty of boys though-fun for awhile and then reality sets in
5) I love asparagus and green beans
6) It depends on the time and the day that one of my kids thinks I am favoring the other over them. However, I don't think I actually do.

1. September has been pretty bad, hoping October is better.
2. Pumpkins, lower humidity (eventually), watching my son play football
3. No
4. I think all the decent, older men are already taken...
5. Potatoes (cooked any way, I'm not picky)
6. I'm sure I do in some situations, although I try not to.
7. We have a Cocker Spaniel that we adopted through Cocker Spaniel Rescue. I love that dog!
