I got to make my mom's day today!! It was simple, I bought her sassy new reading glasses and I've never seen a happier woman!!! I love my mom!!! I also bought sexy, sassy, new bras and panties!!! I'm a happy girl!!!
Just finished a pedi with Jam and Jelly polish by Essie.....awesome pink color. Can spring be far away? It's snowing like hell right now.....but we need the wet.....so that's great.
My girl friend and I rented a car today on Turks and Caicos and drove around exploring. Not only did we manage to find an amazing hidden beach that you could walk way out in the water, but we took a chance on a nonguidebook suggestion and had incredible cracked Conch and plantains . It will only serve to make this escape even more memorable!
Made a kick-ass roasted chicken for dinner and enjoying a couple glasses of cabernet, listening to the rain and enjoying the coziness with my DH. Life is good.
I was having a hard time coming up with ANYTHING good; it's been that kind of day. But now l can say that I'm having a beer while my kids are happily playing together. Maybe that can even count as two?
After a seven week hiatus that included a 10 day out of country trip and a horrendous flu, but also a lot of procrastinating and excuses, I got my ass out and ran again. My times were minutes slower than they used to be and I couldn't even run the whole course, but at least I did it. Yay, me!
Got a text message complete with heart shaped/kissy emoticons from my sweetheart saying that he thinks I am the most wonderful woman. And it's not even Valentine's Day!!!! I heart him. Sigh.
I finished a power point presentation and it went together as planned. I didn't slip up and put everything with a funky background or text upside down. You know what I mean.
I made a pot of homemade chicken soup with cheese tortellini. All from scratch except the tortellini (even the broth is homemade).
My good friend texted me, she is pregnant and heard the heartbeat for the first time. Excited for her.
City bus service cancelled, so I didn't have to trudge out in the blizzard to go to work. Have been curled up either on the sofa or in bed off and on all day, watching a Law & Order SVU marathon on TV. I'm going to make some chicken and noodles for dinner and gear up mentally for work tomorrow. Today has been restful and restorative.
I had my dog spayed today. The price was *lower* than the estimate! As I expected, the vet clinic sent her home early because she was letting everyone know, loudly, how unhappy she was to be stoned, in a little box, far away from her person. She's been home for an hour and already has the cone of shame on for her interest in exploring the incision. Now she is alternating walking around looking for a way to get comfortable and lying down glaring at me.
It's true: this is all my fault. Just ask the dog. She wants everyone to know she didn't make the appointment. I keep pointing out that in the long run she'll be happier since she won't have to take 3 weeks off from many activities twice a year.
i have thoughts of LisaL's mango margaritas in my head and i'm just smiling.
today is the last class of the month for Wednesday's class so that means 'payday'....sure it's "easy come, easy go" but for a short while, i will have cash in my purse. that's a good feeling.
I have become somewhat expert at giving the cat insulin injections. Today he had his dosage while sitting happily in the laundry basket. Success! He also prevented me from doing laundry. Double success! Now some wine and something for dinner.
Just ONE? (Life is really good for me right now). OK - I finished watching my Christmas present from DH - a boxed set of the first 2 seasons of Downton Abbey. I'm officially on the Free John Bates Team and can't wait to start streaming Season 3!
P.S. No spoilers, I beg of you! What excellent entertainment that show is!
Got to teach in a brand new (to me) space today - after moving our whole school over school vacation - and it's beauuuutiful. One of my students said it 'looked like a mansion'.
Finally got a prescription to kick this awful sinus funk that's giving me hell lately. Bad? First script was $100 for 5 tablets (and that's with insurance). Good? Called the doc back & got another script, only $5.
GORGEOUS day for Ithaca, sun and 40 :) Crappy sh!tty weather expected, but today was fiiiiiiine! Lotsa good other things too, thanks for asking, and hope you are well too!
1. I found a pretty sweet apartment - it's sort of tiny but it is within my budget and I can definitely see making it my own.
2. I had my monthly 1 on 1 with my Business Manger today. She said some awesome things about my performance and how well I'm doing.
3. I forgot my phone at home before work this morning. It was nice to be without it as I had a crazy day at work full of meetings and urgent documents that needed to be written.
My boss was only in the office for a few hours today. The sunis warming up and I went out for a walk at lunch without a sweater. Can't come up with 3, it has been a rough day...
My 12 year old daughter and I changed the fluorescent bulbs in the kitchen by ourselves...the 4 ft long kind, not the little spirally kind. And there was light and it is good! We were quite impressed with our badass selves!
I went through ALL the piled up mail and am almost done sorting/dealing with it all! Also conjured up my new favorite breakfast sandwich: fried egg on toasted English muffin with melted gouda cheese, topped with avocado slices, salt and pepper! Yum!!!
My son is babbling away, it seems like he makes a new sound every day, and cracking himself up. He is such a crazy little goof and he makes me laugh enough to forget the lack of sleep from teething related sleep issues.
I went above and beyond to help a stranger and felt great about it.
There was no way today could lose; yesterday my phone fell out of my pocket and into the toilet. Crossing my fingers the "dry it out in a bag of rice" trick works.
I told someone I love that something he says in anger upsets me a great deal and explained how I "hear" it. He apologized, said that the way I take it is not how he means it but in the future he will try to use other words to express how he feels. It is clear to me from how he responded that he really listened to me and his apology was sincere. His M.O. lately is to get defensive or just shut down if I bring up anything remotely critical so I was pleasantly dumbfounded by his response.
I started many pots of different peppers and some tomatillos. I made several pairs of earrings after getting lots of likes on this style on Facebook. And I made drunken noodles with big wide Thai noodles that do look like calamari. Now enjoying a glass of wine and the fireplace with my husband!
Never mind about the long version of this story, but I am sorting through many boxes of books and found several I wanted to keep, including a nice hardback "A Tree Grows In Brooklyn". And then I dropped a very heavy box of books on my bare foot.
Went to sign my tax returns today. I am eternally grateful for my very kind friend Larry, a CPA, who has always done my taxes [accurately] and for free, just because he is so nice. He says it's fun, because he does hard corporate taxes all day long. The big liar.
My husband comes home after a mini vacation went longer than expected when he got stranded by a blizzard in Denver! And I haven't even killed anyone in this house yet.
We got all our errands done after work and still made it to choir on time.
I got out of the house with the kids, for the 2nd day in a row! I made failure dumplings, which were delicious, but not pretty. My husband and I are about to share some homemade cookies, while we watch tv.

I took my kids to the library for a special event they are having. And now I have "alone time" on the computer.
I have a jug of mango margarita waiting for me in the kitchen.
Client dropped by to pay me for a site I updated last week, and threw in a $75 bonus. Yay!
I got my shower doors clean and a chicken in the oven...the little things today.
I found and painted two whistle weights that I had little memory of making. It's fun to have something to experiment on that isn't precious!

No ice yet, just a ridiculous amount of rain. As long as it doesn't freeze all is well.
Got a text message complete with heart shaped/kissy emoticons from my sweetheart saying that he thinks I am the most wonderful woman. And it's not even Valentine's Day!!!! I heart him. Sigh.

My boyfriend shoveled the walkway and brought me dinner.

Today I was scheduled for a second interview at a great non-profit not far from home. Fingers crossed!
My husband sent me a text message to tell me I had packed him an awesome lunch.
My son went out to get me Mexican food.
I just made the yummiest baked sweet potato fries. It's the small things.

The weather is a sunny 70 today and I am almost on my way home to sit on the deck and have a beer...
Got to teach in a brand new (to me) space today - after moving our whole school over school vacation - and it's beauuuutiful. One of my students said it 'looked like a mansion'.
There was a check in the mail today!
Finally got a prescription to kick this awful sinus funk that's giving me hell lately. Bad? First script was $100 for 5 tablets (and that's with insurance). Good? Called the doc back & got another script, only $5.

I got dinner pre-prepared at lunchtime and finished the dishes today. A monumental, if slightly boring feat.
Even better, there's now a cat purring behind my head with her tail wrapped around my neck like a scarf. It's cracking me and the kids up.
I made some amazing tasting buffalo cauliflower bites!
I coughed up/sneezed out *markedly* less goo today. I think I might actually have this cold on the run.
I went above and beyond to help a stranger and felt great about it.

Got a haircut with my daughter (and got to spend some time with and pamper her a little bit too!)
I am hanging out with all my girls. My mother, daughter and the grand daughter. This makes my day.
My husband comes home after a mini vacation went longer than expected when he got stranded by a blizzard in Denver! And I haven't even killed anyone in this house yet.
We got all our errands done after work and still made it to choir on time.
Had a beer with my little brother sitting at a little bar along the St. John's River in Florida, priceless.
I had lunch with a gal I worked with years ago. It reminded me of how much I miss our early morning vents ;)
I didn't have to cook dinner.
skyped with my family. what's better than that?
I got out of the house with the kids, for the 2nd day in a row! I made failure dumplings, which were delicious, but not pretty. My husband and I are about to share some homemade cookies, while we watch tv.
